^ What he said.... thats what mine looks like. Jeff what is the real difference between a usdm cali vs a usdm federal? Just curious.... Can a USDM CALI map run on a car identifying itself as a federal model and vice versa?

Curious to know what the 5th channel is on that connector... seems like they may have changed the way the AP interacts with the CAN BUS?

edit: for non-techies USB is 4 pins: 12V (power), Rx (receive), Tx (send) and Ground. The new connector has 5 pins... could just be a dead pin though.

I'm hoping it's a dead-pin, and that female connector is a usb adapter. If that's true, I hope we can purchase the new connector.

Nope and nope.

There are 6 active pins on the RX-8 DLC: two for CAN, two grounds, power and the SAS/TCS/DSC/ABS system output.
The AP needs to see 5 of those 6.

The new connector is "dumb" - it doesn't interpret USB.

Damn on the second no. I don't really want to permanently secure the OBD connector to my port...

Ahh so basically the dongle's function are now right in the AP.

Probably a more efficient design and likely the reason they could reduce their cost: now they only need to manufacture one complex device.

I appologise if this question has already been answered (I searched the forum but couldn't find an answer).

MazdaManiac, are there any plans for AccessPORT for RX8 Series II model? If so, can you please give us any aproximate ETA?

I hope I don't sound too pushy. You have my respect.

Thanks,

Voe

I believe I've read about the AP being able to display information such as horsepower and torque (but after 300+ pages, I cant remember where I read it ). If so, how accurate is that information? I know it can’t possibly be close to an actual dyno, but wondering how much difference there is. Has anybody compared what the AP shows and what there real dyno showed?
And is the AP consistently inaccurate to where, say, it’s always about 15% higher, within 10% of actual rwhp, always reads lower, etc.?

I was just thinking if it was possible use the AP to see how much of a “gain” in hp you get from a particular modification and how accurate that would be?

Example: The AP reads 170hp stock, then after some upgrades and a tune it reads 185hp. If the AP is consistently inaccurate, (or it IS accurate), you could still determine the amount gained (15hp).

If the AP does NOT have this function, then I have no clue how or where I read that and apologize

It has a horsepower estimation but it is wildly inaccurate. IIRC you have to run a 1/4 mile and then it estimates.

Well, give us more details of what you are doing.
Engine prep? Who is building your manifold and downpipe?
What are you doing for injectors and ignition?
How big is your cold-side plumbing and intercooler?

Unless you have some kick *** source for MSd stuff, Why? The BHR does a great job and is already plug and play.
If i know Elliot, the DP will be 3 1/2 ". You could do 4" but you run out of room very fast.

Oh boy.

Can I ask you a question? Did you read the purchase agreement when you authorized payment? I'm sorry to sound so dickish, but it seems like nobody reads the sales agreement and then I get "has it shipped yet?" requests after two or three days.

This is at the bottom of the MazdaManiac RX-8 AccessPORT page and was also on the Google Checkout page when you authorized payment:

*All prices subject to change. Does not include shipping and handling. Shipping and handling charge added at checkout. All parts, calibration files and upgrades are offered "as is". Payment must be made in full at time of order. Checks or money orders are accepted, but must clear before order is initiated. Google Checkout and bank transfers are also accepted. Purchaser must pay all additional fees incurred by the transaction. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. NO RETURNS, NO REFUNDS. Orders are processed in the sequence in which they are received. Orders will typically ship within 11 business days from receipt of payment. Shipping times vary by destination. Shipping is by UPS to the USA and USPS to all other locations.MazdaManiac does not offer expressed or implied warranty on any parts, kits or calibration files offered and accepts no responsibility for any damages, either direct or consequential, caused by the use of these parts or calibration files. MazdaManiac does NOT offer phone support. All requests for support must be initiated via e-mail. "Cobb" and "AccessPORT" are registered trademarks of Cobb Tuning. "MazdaManiac" and "Custom Calibration Service" are registered trademarks of MazdaManiac LLC. All rights reserved.
If you ordered last Wednesday (March 24th), then 11 business after payment is April 8th.

Please read, review and understand the instructions for the Custom Calibration Service. You will receive an e-mail shortly after your unit ships with a copy of these very instructions (which were also provided for you as a link on the MazdaManiac RX-8 AccessPORT page).

Thanks.
