Cobb AccessPORT Discussion
NOOOOO!!!!!
Leave the AP installed, get a few drive cycles in (I think most states mandate 3) and enjoy the easy pass of emissions testing.
You will go right through with flying colors.
The AP is completely invisible to the emissions guys - just remember to unplug it.

Well, if you leave the DTC on for something you have removed from the car for performance reasons (like the CAT or the air pump or whatever), you will get a CEL and fail.
There is no real way to uniformly tune around that kind of stuff.

I went in for my emissions test and didn't have enough drive cycles. Anyone know the min drive cycles and mileage before the PCM provides the required information? Or is that based on the emissions testing equipment. Specifically the o2 sensor was providing a " not completed" message. I've run at least 4 cold start to full warm cycles and about 30 miles. Before the check. I put another 20 miles on after the test to try a d get some miles on while the weather is cooperating.
Any guidance on miles or # of cold start to full warm drive cycles would be appreciated.

Some people insist on running another ECU because they simply don't want to learn to tune with the AP. In other rare instances the FI setup requires MAP based tuning but even then you could build the system to work with the MAF setup. The RX8 PCM is a very capable piece of equipment and much newer technology than any of the stand alone ECU's out there.
I think all the AP vendors were only allowed to sell the AP for the lowest price of $695.. I think with this price drop, Jeff might have to drop his price on the unit down too. With that said, and don't quote me on that, it is completely up to him to drop his tuning prices down.. though that would definitely be awesome and I'd be in again ;]
If the complete price of the ap with tunes drop with u I will buy asap. I came up on a grand and was planning on pming u about getting one. Please let me know if and when they do becuae I reallllly want one now
Yeah, I saw that.
Until they change what the AccessPORT cost me, I can't match that.
Its tough enough offering the service for free. Offering the AccessPORT for free would not make sense.
I'm sure I'll get some e-mail from Cobb about the wholesale price change soon enough (they typically blindside the dealers about this stuff this way), but until then the AccessPORT is still $695 with the Custom Calibration Service included at no additional charge.

Robb, he DID post up:
go buy from someone else if you want to save a few bucks, then see how much the custom maps cost ya.
