Hi girlyRX8,

I saw that light but if you search a bit more uoy will find a thread in the DIY section, with pics, how it is done. It is self-made and indeed very nice.

Hi All,

Saterday we received the CD and the book from Mazda Holland.
So, if anybody is interested, please let me know. It is a lot of pages to copy and the cd has something of a safety against copying, but no major things to deal with.

On saterday we drove about 250 km with our car and to my surprise fuel consumption was very acceptable this time. Somewhere around 12,5 ltr/100 km.
We have used about half a litre oil for the last 1000 km.

Ceacil, nice that your car is in sight. A few more days and we could meet with twice as much RX8ths as we did the last time ...

Learning from the ordered RX 8 of Girly, red must be the most popular colour.

We are looking for the rotary symbol around the fog light. We know this is no Mazda item yet, but does anybody know if this item is available somewhere ??

It is time to go to bed now, sleep tight.

Hi Eric,

As I already told, I am interested by the CD and the book if possible. Should we arrange this at the next Rx-8 meeting ?

12.5 l/100 km that's fine, I got one time the same figure but on that time I did only highway nearly all the time.

Eric,

You may also keep a copy for me, that would be nice.
Did you indeed only do highway to reach to 12.5 L? That is a superb figure.

Hi all,

Today began as a sad day. My MX-6 and I are now officialy "devorced". Could'nt keep it, parkingspots in our street are rare and we already have another (company) car. Once inside the workshop of my dealer I regained a little smile on my face. There he (she?) was, MY RX-8! It looked even worse then I suspected last thursday when I saw it from outside. It's all covered in dirt, spots and birdspooh, like it has been under a tree for months. We joked about it, who would buy such an awfull looking car? I should be able to drive it next saturday. License is applied for (luxury plates), front plateholder will be lowered and calipers will be painted silver. No decals and no other mods so far.
Eric, prepare for some visitors from Beverwijk next weekend!!

Girly,
I think i've read somewhere else that yours is delayed? Sorry to hear that. Any luck on the brakelight decals? I think it looks great in the dark, real sharp and people are able to see what stands in front of them:D , but during daylight you see two RX-8 logo's only some 20 cm away from each other and that maybe just too much.

I saw a few of us showing some interest in a BeNeLux meeting. Getting a copy of the CD would be THE occasion I think. Patrick wrote before that the thirth week of May would be possible for him. Any ideas about dates and locations?

Regards,
Caecil

Patrick,

I did only highway. Steady around 110-140 k/ph.
It is somewhat frustrating, but speeding could cost a lot these days. I am thinking of going to Zandvoort or Spa to kick down the accelerator without having the felling Mr. Cop is behind the trees.
The copy will be made whenever I will crack the code on the cd.
The book will be copied when I have enough time at the office (and enough paper!!!!!!!!!)

Regards,

Eric

Eric,

Do you have somebody in the neigherhood who can "by-pass" the securitu-code ? If not I would like to present my services, just to try it.

Here in Kortrijk I have some tracks (a few km long) where I can put the gas on and it is realy kicking. I'd wish I had more.

Hi ceacil,

D Menac 7 has given us the info about the brakelight decals. There are 2 versions: one you can see with daylight and one you can only see at night. We prefer the second one, because it is indeed too much to have two logo's at such short distance.

I don't know where you have heard that the delivery is delayed. I haven't heard anything from my dealer yet. I surely hope you are mistaking, because the waiting is driving me nuts. I don't want to call my dealer yet to confirm the delivery date (they said that, in the factory PC it was scheduled to be delivered at the dealer by the 13th of May and it will take a few days to finish the accessories).
Congrats on the arriving of your car! Sorry to hear about the MX6. I have a similar problem with my MX5. It has only done 80.000 Km, but it's now 13 years old, needs a new roof, but is still in perfect shape. We hate to sell it, but I'm concerned that keeping it in the garage without driving it, will damage the car more than selling it. I would prefer to sell it to someone who will cherish as we would.
I certainly wish you a lot of cleaning pleasure on your RX8, and don't forget to post a picture!

Patrick,

I will look if anybode in my neighberhood can crack the code on the cd. Then it would be nice if I could get the adresses to send the copies to.
Otherwise I will send it to you perhaps.

The tracks in Kortrijk are legal tracks?

When adding oil this week, I wrote earlier about, there was some sludge on the stick. It was kind of light and scummy. Is that a normal phenomenon, perhaps because of the temperatures, or could there be some water in the oil???

Have a nice day to you all.

Hi Eric,

I read about your oil worries. I think the best way to find out nothing's wrong with your car, is by contacting your dealer. I would say not to worry too much because, on previous oil changes, with other cars, that the oil that is removed from the car is thick and sludgy at first and afterwards more fluid, so I think thats normal.
I contacted my dealer today and got great news. My car is already at the port and should be at my dealer somewhere around the 10th of May. Delivery date is now set at the 18th of May (about 3 days earlier than expected). The dealer will confirm this when the car arrives. So if someone is looking for a correct dealer in Belgium, I can recommand Garage Julien in Gent.

Regards,

I've visited gagarage Julien today to arrange a date for my first oil change, and they were working on new red 8, putting on a front spoiler and new rearmirrors. Could it have been yours?

And what about Caecil, are you driving around in your brand new 8, all clean and pollished? Hope you do!

Too bad, yesterday I learned from my dealer that my Green is delayed till 11th of june :-(

That's sad because I'm gone to Calgary from 17th to 28th, so I won't really be able to enjoy it before july... after 3 days of polishing and waxing (what a lie ;-) )

Hi Antoon,
The car we ordered is indeed velocity red and we also ordered a front spoiler and new rearmirrors, but they said that our car would enter their store the 10th. They also said they had a delivery of a car the 10th that should have been delivered by the end of april, so I don't know if the car you've seen is ours or not. And, happy with yours?

I have a question for you guys: I've read about the Zaino polishes on the World forum, and I've seen the results. I like buying it too, but the only selling point I have found is a German company and their prices are ridiculous. Does anyone know where I can buy the stuff? I already contacted Zaino USA, to ask them, so when I find out, I will let you know. It's great stuff, a bit expensive, but only the best will do.

First RX-8 meeting in The Netherlands

Hi all,

Yes Antoon, late this afternoon I've got my 8! Two days earlyer than aspected after all.

And yes, of course it was worth waiting for. It all has been said here, I can't add something new. Drove 260 km and I've got that stupid grin on my face, some people were talking about :D
Had to pay Eric a surprisevisit of course, for our "First RX-8 meeting" with twice as much RX-8's as the last time. Lucky he was home, I'll post a picture.

Girly, great that you receive yours somewere next week.
Tertou, I've said it before to others: if I can do the waiting, so can you. And the NGreen is so beautiful!
Antoon, is your wallet empty yet? Then your 8 is defenitly a "she"

See you all.

Hi All,

Yesterday we had our First Meeting in The Netherlands. Indeed, I was very surprised by Ceacil arrival with her more than beautiful Velocity Red 8. It really is a nice colour.
We have made a lot of photos and we received a lot of comment from people passing by. It was a rare moment for them.

I think you're wright Girly, about the oil. I will not worry about it.

Tertou, we saw a Nordic Green at my dealer. Surprisingly nice colour. Very chique and not often seen. Worth waiting for, how hard things can get sometimes.

About the Zaino. I have read also bad things about this product.
You could let your car waxoiled (3 years warrenty) and polish it in between with 'light' products.

Have to continue my work now.

Have a nice day to you all.

Heh, I don't mind the (ridiculously small) wait...

I'm sure I'll enjoy it fully this summer ! :D
It's definitely a nice car, worth the wait...

FYI, I have ordered a pack of Crystal Guard Pro, and that's the first thing I'll do when I get it.
We will be able to compare the shine for real, then

Hi Caecil,
Great pics! I bet you have been cruising around a lot this weekend.

Tertou, I have done some reading into the crystal guard matter, and I wanted to warn you about the use of it. It seems that, when you use the kit, you shouldn't rub on the first layer, because it contains glass fibers and when rubbed upon, it may scratch your car. Done some serious investigating on waxes and tested some of them. Today I used Turtle wax emerald series on the mercedes (it was more than a year since I waxed it). It containes carnauba and the result was smooth, but not shiny enough. After reading all about the waxes, I found out there is a product called Maguires NXT (or something), which works as well as Zaino, but is a lot cheaper and easier to work with. I think I'll go for that one. You can order it from the internet and there are even some stores in Belgium en the Netherlands who sell it. When I get it and I've used it, I'll let you know how it turned out.

Going to bed now, tired of rubbing all day. sleep tight!

girlyRx8, thanks for the warning with Crystal Glass.
I promise I'll be gentle to Emerald (that's how I'll call her :D ). In the end, that's why I thought about Crystal Glass : to have a first shiny hard-coat to protect her from forthcoming road mis-treatment...

Of course, I'll post pics when all is done, and we'll be able to compare their shininess with ongoing use.

Hi all,

What is more fun then driving around in a RX-8?

Driving around in your 8, together with another 8!

Last Thursday when I showed Eric my 8, Eric suggested to visit a yellow RX-8 at a dealer today, and so we did. Driving together, we draw a lot of attention on our two RX-8's right behind each other. It really was great fun! People stared, pointed and tried to drive beside us. One RX-8 is a rare sight in Holland, two is extaordinary. The dealer in Leusden was pleasantly surprised to see our 8's and they drove the yellow outside to make some pictures. We talked about the cars for a long time, drank coffee and brought this forum to their attention. They didn't sell an 8 yet, but that is not because their lack of interest. Thanks again guys!
Next we drove to another dealer to see a Nordic Green and after that we went for a little touristic trip.
A great way to spend a saturdayafternoon!
Eric en Corrie, wij vonden het erg gezellig en als jullie het ook leuk vonden, spreken we binnenkort weer wat af. Er staat vast nog wel ergens een blauwe die we moeten bezoeken.

Dear Ceacil and all the other fanatics,

You have beaten me to it. Was planning on posting a story and a pic of our very nice meeting yesterday, but all has been done ....

Of course we are willing to do it again, and again, and again, let's pic a date and first find that blue one.

Have a nice sunday.

Eric
