Hi,

Indeed, the car is noticed what so ever. Nearly every day I have people turning around my car on the parking place, admiring every angle. Even Porche drivers notice the car. At 2 occasions I had a admiring reply from those drivers used to also a great car.

regards,
Patrick

Since a few weeks I am living in a new town. When sitting on my balcony I hear lots of people talking about the 8. Nothing negative.
The funny thing is, that children always know what kind of car it is whil grownups have to look and sometimes even can't tell weather it is a Mazda or something else.

In a few days my garage will be ready to park my car in, so, no more compliments. That will be hard......

Regards to you all.

Well, yesterday was the 20th. Antoon should drive his 8 by now, will we hear from him soon? I must admit, I´m a little jealous, still waiting for mine.... [/B][/QUOTE]

that is was i have been doing for the last two days .... after i've got it started

i drove away from the dealer at peak hour, and after a three minutes drive my extra carjacking alarm started to buzz and my fuel supply was cut off while i was stuck in a traffic jam!! my brand new 8 was blocked on the side off the road making a terrible noise, me standing beside it, unable to shut down the alarm. i had to call my dealer who arrived with some delay due to the rush hour, and who was unfortunately unable to shut down the buzzer, cause he didn't know the code neither. after a few calls to the guy who installed the CJ1 my newborn child stopped screaming and became willing to carry on.
remarkable entry anyway.

but most wonderful car to drive once you've got it started!!

I hate aftermarket car alarms. I've always got rid of them after a while on all my previous cars due to false detections.

Well, some newborn baby's cry when they leave their nest for the first time. They want to be noticed and comforted!

Sorry to hear you had a bad start, but I think that you'll forget that soon.
Congrats Antoon. I wish you a lot of happy kilometers!

not a bad start at all, just a funny thing to happen. by the way, due to the noice it made and the attention it needed, i'm willing to think that my red 8 is a female one...

Congrats Antoon.

For info to all, I received today from the dealer a new STARTUP procedure when the engine is flooded. This procedure must be put in the Usage book.

Cheers

Hi all,

I've followed this thread for some weeks now and finally decided to join in.

About the salesfigures: there are 155 RX-8 sold in Holland this year, so this thread should have been more crowded.

Eric claims to be the first private owner in The Netherlands.
I don't have my 8 yet (next week!), but I hereby claim to be "The first RX-8 female owner/driver in The Netherlands" unless somebody proofs otherwise!!!
I have a passion for fast and/or beautiful cars, and from all you have written I know I will enjoy this car!

Does anyone have that CR ROM with technical information, you were talking about earlyer? My husband is trying to figure out how to adapt an I-pod (MP3 player) into the 8. Any costs will be payed for of corse.

Regards,
Girlpower :D

First RX-8 MX-6 meeting in The Netherlands

I just had to see a RX-8 out in the field, so I contacted Eric. He and his kind wife invited me over and so we met yesterday. What a great afternoon it was! Finally met someone who won't get tired of talking of cars and 8's. Thanks again Eric and Corrie.
It was my last chance to take pictures of my MX6 in such good company. Shame about my battered licenceplate, but any way, here's a picture of the first RX-8 - MX6 meeting in The Netherlands.
See you in a few week Eric.
Rgds,
Caecil

b.t.w. I had to change my avatar, seems that someone used it before. Is there a list somewhere?

Hi All,

Seems that we have another admirer in the room. Welcome to you Girlpower and congrats with your choice!
You wrote that I am claiming to be the first private owner. I am not only claiming that, it is for thruth so.
About your question concerning the MP3 player, there must be, somwhere on this forum, a thread that concerns this item.

Ceacil, great pic!!! And a great afternoon!!!! Something to repeat soon, as we spoke about. But no more surprises ........

Patrick, how is your spoiler doing ??? Is it mounted yet ??

All the best to y'all.

Antoon,

How is your car doing? No more false alarms I hope.
I had to cope with that phenomenon once. Got a lot of attention of course, but felt rather dumb. It did not occur again.

Renesis, you wrote about the starting procedure after flooding.
There is something written about in the manual. I used it ones.
But I understand from your words that there must be a new item, from Mazda to the dealers??

Regards,

Eric

Eric,

This car exceeds my expectations. Most wonderful how smooth and linear it drives, no sudden boost of power but an endless building up untill the buzzer reminds me to shift gear. There's no such problem as a lack of torque, just have your downshift well timed, and oh oh...
I'm glad i had the occasion to do my first driving on a dry road, cause it feels like my 8 intends to shake its tail when taking a sharp turn. Could it be that you have to handle the car in very gentle way on a rainy day?

Hi All,

Eric. Yes, I received the procedure on small paper from the dealer to be put in the book to replace the existing one. This new procedure is more detailled and is a little bit different.

Amazing, already 240 rx-8 in Belgium !

Yep, on wet road be carefull, but don't worry too much the DSC is there to help !

That would be great RenesisMSA.
Is there, besides myself, somebody else who had the flooding problem??
As far as I know, nobody else had this experience.

Antoon, great that you enjoy your 8 so much. The way you describe your first experiences covers the way we all had that first impressions. And we still have them.

I saw a Nordic Green one at my dealer. First I thought, before seeing it, it could not be a wright colour. But the colour is very nice on the car. Rather chique I would say. Dealer told us that yellow will no longer be available and a new colour blue will be added to the programme.

Have a nice day

Eric

Hi all,

Welcome Girlpower.
You know, some time ago we talked about those 2 CDRoms, one technical and 1 bodywork. I know every dealer has them because I already saw them and I can always use them on my dealers computer, but I also would like to have them home. It might be hard to get a copy.

Eric, my spoiler is almost ready for the paint-job I'dd like to leave to a specialist in Kortrijk. Mounting will be done by my dealer. So I will keep waranty as they promissed me.

RenesisMSA, If indeed you could inform us on the new startup-toutine that would be nice. Perehaps we will get it by mails also, I don't know, we'll see.

regards to all of you
Patrick

Hi all,

Visited my dealer (again!) and received great news: I should be able to drive my 8 by the end of next week. Unfortunately a few days too late, because I will have to say goodbuy to my dear old MX-6 on the 2nd of May. Inbetween I will be driving "something with four weels" as Patrick did before receiving his 8.

Last friday at Eric's local dealer we saw a black RX-8 with the logo "printed" on both sides. At that time I thought it looked great and had my dealer inform about it. Today he offered to do in on mine, but I'm not so sure about in anymore. Maybe it looks "cheap" on a red. And should it be silver or black on a red? So I need your honest opinions. What do you all think? Does it add anything to this car or is it just something you should not do on a RX-8?

Hi Caecil,

You want our opinion ?
Well I have on my red similar decals (grey-metal) but smaller and not on that place. Metal-gray on red doesn't look cheap but clasy.

I have a other point off intrest : I am looking for a decal for the sides, so that I can also protect them from parkingaccidents. I thought of something even greater with the text "ROTARY SPORT".
Something a bit thick and flexible. Just looking, didn't find it yet. Could be that I also have to make it my own.
It is perhaps an idea to combine the decal with side-protection all in one.

regards,
Patrick

In fact, on black or grey, this could be nice....
It's the first time I see this kind of "RX-8 logo"
I don't really know about this on a velocity red !
maybe black on red should be the right choice...

PS: I'm also interested in the 2 CDs... if someone has copies... :D
