Hi All,

Regarding the startup procedure, the good news is that I took a picture of it yerterday evening, the bad news is that I forgot to transfer the picture to my laptop, and as I am at the office now I cannot put it online before tonight. Sorry for this.

About the two CD, I resquested sometime ago to the dealer to have a copy but they apparently are not allowed to permit this. But I have found on this forum a Person in US that has the car whole technical info in PDF (downloaded from following site: http://www.mazdatechinfo.com/ ). He didn't put this online on the forum for the moment, but maybe sending a mail to him may be a possible way to receive it (I didn't try so far) https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...&pagenumber=1.

Logo could be nice, I would recommend Silver as color for it on the velocity red (same color as the wheels and other accessories).

Hi All,

Nice to see there is so much writing going on.
The photo Ceacil made at my local dealer is great. I thing I will take those decalls and was thinking of silver on my Tit.
Patrick, what kind of side protection are you thinking of?
Attaching a kind of strip on the side of your 8 will probally look nasty I guess. Are you thinking of something on the middle of the doors?

About the cd's. I will try my contact at Mazda NL and perhaps they will give them away ???
When so, you all will get free copy's from me. You could pick them up and that would be the second international meeting.

Keep you informed.

Regards,

Eric

Hi Eric,

No, strips would be ugly, I agree.
I am thinking aubout a decal-text (rotary sport) but made of a thicker plastic. The text would mask the very small bumps I already have an hopfully prevent new ones. I made a drawing of the place regarding the door-edges of what is already there and I'm trying to design one myself. So I can let it cut-out by specialised people. Then I could air-brush it a bit, making it shine.
I will for sure be there not only to collect those CD's but also to meet Conny and you again.

regards,
Patrick

first idea for thick side-decals (protectors)

Hi,

This is what I think off. Your opinion please, all of you.

Patrick,

It looks rather big ......

I cannot picture it in my mind to see it on the RX. Lack of imagination perhaps???

Just got a email from my contact at Mazda Holland. They will send me a cd (first version) of the 8 with all technical details.
They also will send a booklet with the wiring of the 8.

If anybody is interested, please let me know.
Perhaps some of you already have those items.

Patrick, you have to come over to pick it up. So we could meet again. Would be nice.

Regards,

Eric

Yes, Eric, we must soon fix a date, perhaps around the 3th week of may, do you have a proposal ?

You are right, it is a bit big, just as Styephanie remarked also; she doesn't like it. So, I might perhaps be forced to let the bumps fixed. I am still convinced that this is not the best solution. The great design of the car has this minor edge of having exposed side-doors. Perhaps clear film as already used on the car could help.

regards,
Patrick

Hi Eric,
That is good news, let us know the contents of the CD when you receive it. And how are you planning to duplicate the booklet (Scanner or Copier)?

Cheers,

Hi Eric,

I am very interested by the CD and a copy of the booklet, thanks to let me know when you have it, for sure I will participate in the duplication cost. And as you indicated, it is the occasion for a Rx-8 meeting.

Here attached is the Start procedure updated that I received from the dealer.

IKN - I must wait until I receive the booklet of Mazda. Perhaps it are too many pages to scan, so I could make only copy's. That could be done at my work (in the weekend)
Perhaps the cd will be duplicatable ......... That would be an easy task.

RenesisMSA - Thanks for the startup procedure document. Allthough it is in French, I will try to learn from it (for the next time this problem will occur)

I will let you know as soon as the mail from Mazda arrives. That will not be before monday next, because my homecomputer has not been fixed.

Regards to you all and enjoy the coming weekend
Tomorrow it is Koninginnedag. The queens birthday, we have an extra day off.

. fuel injection is stopped when accelerator is fully depressed

. avoid the engine to rev up or to drive immediatly after starting the engine
. do not hold the ignition key at START position for more than 10 seconds
. if the engine still does not start contact your mazda dealer.

(I hope this will help...:D)

waiting for RX8

Hi guys,

I am waiting for my RX8 too! It was ordered on the 20th of March and it should be at my dealer on the 13th of May. I hope they will keep their promise when I read your replies. Tomorrow is the first of May and I haven't seen an RX8 in the area yet. I fell in love with the RX 8 on the Brussels autosalon. Since it was ordered we have been visiting the RX8 forums a lot; there are certainly a lot of fans of this car! By the way, my RX8 will be velocity red and when I get it I will post a picture of it thogether with my MX5.

You lucky girl(y),
you don't have to wait too long for your 8! Congratulations and welcome to this forum. Velocity Red: Great choice:D

I saw my 8 yesterdayevening at the workshop of my dealer (after closingtime). It was on the backside, in the dark, covered in plastic, but it was unmistakably MINE. Due to today's national holliday, Koninginnedag, I hope to find out tomorrow when I can pick it up.

We did a tour around Het IJsselmeer today (drove 350km), as a goodbye trip with my MX6. Didn't see a RX-8. The only 8's I saw on the road in Holland were Eric's and another one of a dealer, so its still very rare overhere also.

Guys, thanks for publishing the new procedure and the translation in case of flooding. Hope that I never have to use it of course. I wonder if that already has been updated in the new manuals. We'll find out soon.

Also thanks for your remarks about the decalls, but I still havn't decided. I think I'll keep it as it is for a while.....

Regards,
Caecil

Hi GirlyRX8, and welcome to the forum. RX8 / MX5 : perfect combo.

I have yet to see another 8 in my area. Nothing so far.

Caecil, Patrick, what material and how are you intending to use for/make your decals? I'm thinking of making a small decal with my company's logo for when I go to circuits for tech support. Would be free advertising! Were you going to let a professional make them?

Thanks,

IKN

IKN,
This morning, after a little chat with the dealer, I decided to postpone the decals, but it would have been made by professionals. I still can't imagine what it looks like on a red, never seen a red in daylight.

As you were the one who told me to keep it stock, i'm suprised to see that you want a logo on yours now!

I understand your surprise. However, I was looking into sticking something very small, discreet and stealthy on the boot like my URL or monochrome logo in dark grey on the titanium grey background. I'm also looking at something non-permanent that I would only fit for these events (on clear film, on rear windows, or magnetic....).

What I don't like to see is a big "turbo" on a turbo car, or "chroomvlam" kind of stuff on a very nice looking car like the 8.
Only exception is "Carrera" but only on a genuine '73 2,7l 911!

I agree totaly on that! Also have to avoid decals that would look like the hideous GTI's and VTEC's

But now you've mentioned it, our companylogo is the "fast forward" sign that is used on buttons. It is in red....

That logo seems very smart. Any website I can see it on?

Sorry, website is under construction, but you can see the logo at www.grx.nl
What does your's look like? I think a logo in silver or gray would look good on Titanium.

Patrick, how are you doing with your decals? Any other ideas yet? Maybe you can get someone to PhotoShop your Rotary sport design on a picture of your 8 (if you can't do it yourself). I saw a lot of that going around in the American threads.

Hi all,

I can put it on myself with photoshop, but I printed it also out on a slide and presented it on my car. I must say, I'm not confinced yet. I didn't notice the idea going round in the American threads, I will have a look there also. Thanks.

I am looking into a other option for those bumps and prevent them a bit in the future : 3M transparent protective film after letting remove the bumps by a professional in the neighberhood.

I have a friend who can "cut" my decals on special aeronautic film, that is used for aircrafts. I just deliver him by mail a eps-file and I just pay the film. It would be the cheapest solution for sure, but ...

By the way, is that your cat ?

regards,
Patrick

Patrick,
No this is not one of my cats, I don't have a white one (so far!). And I saw someone use the same picture as avatar, again. I guess that's what happens when you ripp a picture of the internet.
Next time I will take a picture of one of my own cats.

Caecil,
Have a look on www.enginepsd.com. It's blue but I designed a monchrome version of it too.

Yours looks good!

Thanks. And it just occurred to me that the company's name is just one character from the car's name, so we could do something nice with that.

The blue logo from your company will stand out more on Titanium I think. If you only use it for the events as a non permanent advertisement company, I would go for the blue.

b.t.w. You DO know a fair bit, i think!

Edit:
Looking at your website again. You should have bought a Winning Blue 8!
