got my 8 today

Won't be able to join you on those dates, due to our store. Perhaps the next time, in July and August we are closed on sundays.

So :D finally got my 8 today :D. I think it looks good, but the best treat was driving it. My husband did the testdrive, so I didn't know what it felt like to drive an 8. On the way back from the dealer, he also took the steeringwheel, but once back, I took it for a spin. Boy, that felt great! I have to say I will have a problem: I can't hold myself to respect the speed limits. You just don't feel the speed and the car just asks for more.

I have to say, after looking at so much 8's on the forums, it doesn't sink in that this one is mine. Perhaps in a few days, after giving it a nice waxing job (they cleaned it at the dealers, but I saw a few flaws), it will come to my senses that this is mine.

So, here they come! The first pics!

another one

By the way, the blue one in the background is waxed with Meguiars. Looks as good as new!

Better pictures will follow after I waxed it, these I have taken in the driveway this evening and they aren't the best shots. We have put her in the garage now, and stood staring at her for about ten minutes.

I can't believe that. Only ten minutes?:D

Congratulations Girly!

Pitty that you're not able to be there on the 5th or 6th.

B.t.w. the 5th or the 6th is also oké for me.
If my counting was correct, at least four RX-8 owners will meet so far!
Any others? Patrick, IKN, TheChemiste, Antoon, Baphi?

Eric, should one of us call or mail to Henk? or to the fanatic dealer (who joined the RX-7 club) we met in Enschede?

Regards,
Caecil

What a nice car Girly. Your acceseries look great.
I am sure you will enjoy that car as much as we do !!!!!!!!
Loved your pics. And yes, staring at your 8 is also great, but driving it is much more fun, especialy at speeds over 200 k/ph ....

Ceacil, let us wait a few days more to be sure wheater a meeting will find place and what the location would be. Than we could call Henk and the dealer in Enschede.

Have a nice day.

Hi all,

I just saw that our German neighbours had their first meeting last Saturday. Ever seen 22 RX-8 together? I'm afraid we can't beat that for a while .....

We did recognize Hilbert for he has mailed before on this thread.
But, Ceacil, what do you mean by 'next weekend'?
Is there anything arranged for the meeting yet ?
Let us try to agree on the weekend of the 5-6th of June. I don't think we can beat the German meeting, but we sure can try.

We hope to hear from you all.

Back from work and Germany

Hi all,

I was quiet for a while as a lot of work at school and a trip to visit my family in Germany kept me away for some days.

Possibly I can make it to on the 5th of june, I still have to check my agenda at school (examinations).

I had a problem to solve before departure to Germany : I replaced some while ago the original platic valve caps with metal ones and ... when I wanted to check tire-pressure before leaving I noticed that the caps where oxidated and couldn't be removed. I made one great mistake, I didn't apply special valve grease, so I had to go to my tirespecialist to let them remove them. What a shame on me !!!

In Germany I saw my first RX8 on the road in Kitzingen (near Würzburg); a tit grey one; we did exchange warm greatings.
I drove off on wednesday and the traffic was still very heavy, so I just could pull her up above 220 km/h. Coming home on sundaymorning, same problem : already a lot of trucks on the move so ... 220 was the best I could safely make. What a pitty because she had quiet a lot of reserve. Perhaps on circuit somewhere in the future I can push het up to 240-245 km/h.

On friday I visited Rothenburg o.d. Tauber, a great old village. If you are some day in het neigberhood of Nürenberg, you should visit this site. Hereby a picture of my 8 parked in front of the city-wall.

regards,

Patrick

Talking

Hi all,

thanks for the compliments! Didn't visit the forum for the last two days, had other things to do, as you'll surely understand. I've had a great time with my car. You didn't make an overstatement when you said that the 8 draws some serious attention. I've been thinking bout installing a camera in it to take some pics of peoples faces . Just kidding! Seriously, people are even following us to take a better look at the car. Perhaps, that's because it's the first 8 in the area. Great fun though! There are others who want to do some racing, and even with the driving-in limitation (rodatie), the 8 leaves them all in a dust cloud. It's a bit like having a new baby; everybody wants to know what, when, how and how much. Have to say that she really likes her gasoline, though (only 200 km and already half a tank) and the right side between the front and side window, limites the view (almost had an accident on my second ride).

Did you guys read the owners manual? I am almost halfway through it. Noticed some differences between things I read on the forum and the owners manual. The manual says that the first 1000 km you have to drive in different ways (gently-fast) and I haven't found the bit yet where it says that you can't pull it over 4000 rotations. After starting, you have to keep it running stationary for 10 seconds, etc. Had to laugh at myself though today. It was raining a little bit and I couldn't find my windowcleaners (ruitenwissers). I turned the little ring, but that didn't do the job. Had to pull out my manual to get them to work.

Looking forward to her first bath. I thought that, after only a few days of driving, she wouldn't be dirty, but I was very mistaking, because she is covered with dirt.

I'm going to bed now, so don't let the bed bugs bit you!

Groetjes, Sandra

Hi GirlyRX8,

It is a pleasure to see that you enjoy the car as we all do. I wish you the best with it.

About the manual, yes I went throught it completly, I saw that the car should be driven in different ways for the first 1000 km with no racing start when the motor is cold and not keeping the motor over 7000 RPM (for the HP) for more than a few seconds.
I followed this and don't have any issue so far (I went multiple times to 9000 RPM during this first 1000 km but only for a few seconds).

Cheers

Well, for the 5-6 june I won't be able to join you ... moto trip to Germany ! (unless big rain !)

So much RED in Belgium ...

We need to meet in June ... my RED is asking to meet other ones !

I went to my dealer today and it seems Mazda Belgium has something in mind (at last !) for the BE RX8 owner ... end september at ZOLDER ?! Anyone has beter connections ?
I am getting jalous of the UK owner who did get a day a track when they bhought their 8 !

Some colleagues of mine are planning a trip to the Nurburgring around the 20 June ... anyone else interested ?

Regards,

Baphi

Hey that would be really cool if that happens
I expect my Green by the end of June, so it could well have its break-in by then :D

I would obviously not join for the 5-6, but we'll surely meet another time...

Only Belgiums? If not, just say when and where. Nothing on my agenda, just driving my RED and preferably to others :D

We went to visit a dealer in Vlaardingen this afternoon, who wrote on his website that he profiles as a RX-8 specialist. We didn't set our hopes to high, the news on this site wasn't news anymore, but hey, maybe he is more into updating cars, then updating his website. Well, what can I say. What a bluffer. This stuffed shirt actually sold 1 stock RX-8 and has nothing on tuning, excaust systems or other mods. The manager wasn't there, the saleguy was deeply ashamed and apologised for that website. He gave us coffee and we talked about the RX-8 for half an hour, but he learned more from us than we learned from him. (once more)

I think the true RX-8 specialists are overhere, in this forum!

See you,
Caecil

Oeps, you did it again ..... Ceacil. Going to a new dealer without me. I feel terrible .....

The meeting Mazda Belgium is planning to organize is a very good idea. Mazda Holland should do that too. There would be at least a handful of Dutch owners that could join such a day.
If the Belgium Mazda is willing to accept foreigners, let us know.

I will be crossing Belgium on friday the 11th of June. We could perhaps meet at a gasstation and line up. You all could drive me to Limoges, would be a nice view ......

Nice weekend,

Eric,

Please use your contacts with Mazda Holland!

I missed you when visiting the dealers (also visited Barendrecht), but I didn't want to claim you while others needed your attention.

Renesis, Hilbert, Eric, Patrick, are we still going to meet on the 5th (or 6th)?

Red face

Ceacil,

I will contact Mazda first thing tuesday. I think it would help pointing new owners on our forum.

And yes, we would like that very much. The meeting.
We only have to agree on the saterday or the sunday and pick a place.

A Zolder meeting organized by Mazda should be great !!!! I hope they will do it.

Since I meet Patrick I am looking forward for other meeting opportunities but finally I have to work on the 5th of June. So I will be in the impossibility with a lot of sadness to join the meeting that we were planning. Maybe we can plan another one later in June ? But getting difficult those months due to the holidays of everybody, we should maybe plan it a long long time before to get the maximum of participant, somewhere in August for example (and still have some small regional meetings before the big one).

I saw in my region that probably a store holder has bought a black RX-8. The car is always parked in front of the store. It looks very nice ! If I have the opportunity to see him, I will indicate him this forum.
