Thanks for the pics Girly.
What kind of car is that last one? I think driving in that one you will draw more attention than driving in an 8.

Regards,

Eric

We don't know the name of it, but the owner told us it was built on an oldtimer chassis of a Ford Lincoln. He told us the name but we can't remember. The top was made in 1987. His wife told me, that when they go to places with that car, they have to park it and go away immediately, otherwhise people start asking questions about it. She doesn't like the car because it draws too much attention. It costs about 40000 € so that isn't that much more than an 8, but I prefer the 8 for daily use. If you look close, you'll see that it is a hughe car, but the cockpit is tiny.

Looks like a Dusenberg replica. And I would not call it 'neat'. But it's a question of personal taste. And I know better ways to spend 40 grands.

Girly, in Holland you cannot buy an 8 for that amount !!!
Taxes are so high here.
Nice story though, about the attention. But with our 8 we draw a lot of attention too.

Have a nice day.

Eric
It is exactly what I meant!
Also, it must handle like a super-tanker with a broken rudder.

And the use of fuel might be even worse than the 8! :D

Talking about fuel, my last FE figure was 12,5l/100km (best ever so far) with half motorway drive at 140 km/h and half spirited driving on curvy B roads (Nationales). My average over 6602 km is a steady 13,5l/100km. Bear in mind I drive a 192hp.

Not bad IKN.
This is almost the same as my fuel consumption.
I have done an average of 14 liters per 100 km.
With this weather though, the beer consumption is dramatically increasing.

All the best,

Eric

More than 14 liters???!! (I mean the beer consumption) Wouldn't drive the 8 after that... Anyway, get my 8 next Tuesday the 25th. It is now at the dealer, but because of the long weekend here in Belgium, they can't get it ready untill then. Too bad, could drive it a lot this weekend, but on the other hand: only six days to go.

I either drink or drive. Not both things at one time

Good luck with the waiting Girly. The finish is in sight now.

Have a nice long weekend.

To the limit

Dear All,

Yesterday we went , with the complete Dutch RX8-team to Germany. There were two cars and 4 persons.
On our way we visited two dealers. In Enschede we saw a nice yellow 8 and a superb looking RX 7 (last edition) That car was to become a racecar.
In Hengelo we saw for the first time a Winning Blue 8. Nice colour that suits the 8 great.
Across the German boarder, we finally could speed up our 8ths to the limit.
Our 8 (upgrade - 192 bhp) did 232 k/ph!!!!
Ceacil's 8 (HP) did 235 k/ph untill there came a speedlimit sign. It could do better.
After a quick lunch, we went to Zevenaar where we met Henk as arranged at the local dealer. Henk bought a yellow 8 two weeks ago. Perhaps he will join us on this forum.

Have a nice weekend,

Corrie & Eric

Hi, speed maniacs! We loved the pics. How did the person behind you take that shot of the dash at that speed? I guess it was a though job, but I like it a lot. And the shot of the 3 8's is nice too. Tomorrow I'll get my 8. As soon as I get pics I'll post them.

Bye!

Hi Girly,

Thank you for your enthousiastic reply.
It was so great driving at that speed. The car is so very steady, unbelievable. So taking such a pic is, in fact, a piece of cake.
Allthough I can not speak for somebody else, of course. I did not take that pic, and it was not in my car, but in the car in front of us.

I wish you a very very nice day tomorrow. Enjoy your 8 a lot and we are awaiting those pics !!!!!

Regards,

Corrie & Eric

Hi Girly,

So, tomorrow is your day! I can almost feel your exitement. I only have mine for 2,5 weeks now, but if you enjoy yours just half the way I do mine, you still will have a great time driving it!
Would love to see pictures of all the accessories you ordered on yours.

About the pictures while driving at speed, the person who took them sat beside me, not behind me. As Eric wrote, the car is still very steady at that speed, so taking pictures was not that hard. The only thing that was shaking in my car, was the hand of the photographer.
We saw a lot of those pictures on tuftufclub.com, so we just want to try it in a RX-8.
Regrettably that side is no longer active, so I can't post it overthere.

I wish you lots of joy tomorrow and many happy kilometers.

Regards,
Caecil

Hi all,

Great pictures !
I am sure that this little trip to germany was very pleasant.

On my side, I am surprise that I have now a quite stable comsumption of around 13l/100km even by driving in the city.

We should plan a Benelux meeting !

Cheers

RenesisMSA,

Nice to hear from you.

Reading your average consumptiom, you must have a Wankel Diesel .........

About a meeting, let us know what plans you have in mind.

I will be going to France on June the 12th, so I will be driving threw France. On the 26th we will be returning, so that would be also a good day for us.

Girly, I hope you are enjoying your 8 at this moment.

Eric

Let's try maybe to have a meeting on the 12th of June. On the 25th I leave for my holidays.

There are many places possible, but we should find something rather centrally located (to get maximum of attendees) and with nice possibilities to have a common driving experience.

Should we agree on the date First and maybe think at possible locations !

It is good to read you all, I was not able to join the forum for a while due to my work and obligations.

Rgds

The 12th of June does not suit me quit.
I have to arrive near Limoges around 16.00 h, so that leaves not much time for a meeting (for me that is)
Or we should arrange something before that date, on the 5th or 6th, somewhere around Eindhoven or so.
