Hi all,

Finaly drove my red beauty as it is meant to be!
After we've got used to each other for a bit more than 1100 km in the last 4 days, and to give it a nice and easy start (but not too slow on the revs.), I added 0.5 L of oil, and let it really work for me tonight. I heared the beep for the first time in my own 8, best sound I've heard all day, and more then once of course!!!!.
I took the rest of this week off from work..... just to drive some more happy kilometers!
See you all,
Caecil

How a good day went bad and then turned out right again...
What a day. This morning I had a pleasant surprise: the products I had ordered from Meguiars saturday evening have already been delivered. This afternoon, the roof came down on my head. Normally our car would be delivered today at the dealer, and since my husband was in the area, he went to pay a visit to the dealer and he had the camera with him to take some shots, but... The other cars were already there except ours. We found out that Mazda Europe had blokked our car to do some testing with it. I went crazy! We didn't know what kind of testing and how long it would take (a week, two weeks, three weeks?). Eventually, the dealer found out that, when the shipment arrives, they pick out a car to see if it meets the European standards. Luckily the dealer (Peter) was at that time in the factory and he has arranged (after a lot of negotiation) for us to have another car, which wasn't spoken for. He told us that the cars are only made by order, so when they arrive, your name is already linked to the car and it takes a lot of red tape to switch these orders. The delivery date will now be around the 21th of May instead of the 18th of May, but I am very happy that I don't have to wait another month. With special thanks to garage Julien Ghent, Belgium (so you know where to order yours). Especially many thanks to Rita and Peter. Peter even called us tonight, after business hours, to confirm the new order. Great service, ain't it? This means that they take care of their customers. Big difference compared to what I have read about some dealers in the USA forum!

By the way, Antoon, is your last name Vincent?

GirlyRx8, it is nice to read that your dealer is so devoted.
That helps a lot, and gives you certainty about things.
Only one week and your 8 will be there. Great !!

Ceacil, don't let it bleep to often .........

Eric,
Can't help myself, it's an addiction!

Girly,
Congrats on your devoted dealer. Could have been so much worse!
Thanks to my devoted salesguy Rob, I was able to drive mine a little earlyer than espected. He knew that the waiting was unbearble for me. (Rob, if you're reading this, thanks again!!!!!!)
So Girly, you are counting the days..... Found out in Mag's thread that he also is going to get his Red 8 next week.

Caecil

Looking at a UK RX forum (RX8ownersclub.co.uk), it looks that Mazda UK has released a re-calibration for the 231hp over there. I own a 192hp so I don't really care but I thought I should pass on the information.

I bought Yagamushi's book about the RX8 on e-bay last Saturday. I'll get it on my return from France in June. Do some of you guys own it? Is it any good?

Went to Spa-Francorchamps on Friday. Drove from Huy to Spa by the N66, N633 and N697. The N697 is the best bit with really fast straights and turns to start with and slow hairpins at the end of it. One of my best drives so far. And that car gets all the looks and stares from the crowd in the Paddocks, despite the presence of numerous Porsches and other performance cars.

Any update on the tech CD-rom and wiring diagrams?

Girly, I did not have the opportunity to take a picture of my front bumper. Will do it before heading to France later this week.

Have a bright and sunny day,

IKN

Bright and sunny it sure is, but sitting on the wrong side of the window doesn't make you happy ...............
The temperature makes me think of my MX 5. Perhaps Mazda will built an RX 8 convertable ???

The CD is in the hands of an expert who can copy it for everybody. The book will be copied a.s.a.p.

The book is great. I received it last year from my dealer. It is a must for every owner.

Regards,

Eric

Eric,

Did you find anything about outlining the wheels?
I found something on the forum but I want to check it.

Patrick

IKN, thanks for the information about the re-calibration. I will check it out.

And as Eric already said, the Yagamuchi book is a "must have" for RX-8 owners or soon to be owners! It was my way to kill time waiting for my 8 (before I found out about this forum).

I will confer with Eric about the CD next Friday. There are diffrent solutions for getting the information to all you guys. We'll keep you posted.

Yesterday I finally was able to wash and wax my car (it was Waxoiled so I had to wait for 10 days). It was very dirty after more then 3000 km.
I took some pictures today, wich will confirm all the prejudice views about The Netherlands :D A shame that I couldn't find some clogs!

Patrick, nice to hear from you !!
I think I missed something though, for I don't know what you mean with your question about outlining the wheels.
Should that be on the cd perhaps ? Please let me know so I can give you (hopefully) the correct information.

And Ceacil, your pics are nice. The prejudice against our low countries are well pictured. I only miss the wooden shoes. Did your wear them while driving your 8 ???

Have a nice evening.

Regards,

Corrie & Eric

By outlining I mean aligning and ballancing the wheels, there could be some technical specs on that item.

Patrick,

By asking that I get the impression that you must have hit something with your wheels.
I certainly hope I am wrong, but I promise you I will look it up as soon as the lady in red has returned my cd.

Take care !

I'm the 'expert' Eric talked about, who has his hands on the mazda service cd right now. Had a look for the first time today.

Good news, it's an entire cd filled with html pages and .png pictures, so no silly windows programs are required to use it.
Apart from the fact that mazda managed to use javascript in the menu's that only runs in the inferior Internet Explorer it looks ok, actually.

It's a traditional, formal procedure manual with technical drawings, in french, dutch, german, spanish, italian and english. No wiring diagrams.

"No part of this manual may be reproduced or used in any form or by any means, electronic or mechanical-including photocopying and recording and the use of any kind of information storage and retrieval system-without permission in writing."

So i will not put up this cd for download just like that, as large scale publication is likely to cause problems, especially when linked from a US based website...

We will get back to you on this later.

Patrick, I will have a look at the wheel balancing stuff for you in the mean time.

Hi Eric,
took some pics of my MX5 this weekend. I will be saying goodbye to it in a short while. We thought about it a lot, but we decided to sell it. It is with pain in our hearts, but we still have a CLK cabrio and with the new 8...
I would like to enclose some pics. How does it work?

Girly,

Sorry that you have said goodby to your MX 5. The CLK is also a nice car, but I prefer a MX 5.
Enclosing pics is not my speciallity, perhaps somebody else can explain.

Patrick,

The information you requiered will come from Barf. Glad your car is ok.

Nice day to you all.

Barf,

nice to meet you and I fuly understand that we must not run any risks by making copies of the CD. Thanks in the meantime for looking up on the alignment issue.

Barf, here is a legal suggestion :

- you make a (unprotected) copy of the CD for you own personal use (should be legal)
- I borrow it from you 'just to have a look' ;-)
- I send it back to you. And you haven't done anything wrong.
- You can send it to your next 'friend' on the waiting list for him just to have a look at it, like I did...

Or I can send it at my own expense to the next one and so on...

Thanks,

IKN

oldtimer

This one is not ours. We sell waterbeds, sauna's and spa's. The car belongs to a spa-client. His other car is a Mercedes SL. He had three of these, but sold the other two. Neat car!
