I am placing an offer on a house today. Making the official written offer with funding tonight.
So anyone with some extra good karma, please send it my way

Another frustrating day on the project Miata yesterday. We have the car running, which is the most important thing...but now we are focused on the suspension and tires.

As for tires, we bought a set of used Hoosiers, but had problem mounting two of them. One, was trashed...but the other mounted, but is not holding air real well. Found yesterday that there may be a third tire not holding air. We got two brand new tires...one mounted in place of the tire that was trashed (so that we had four tires on the vehicle)....and the other new tire is a backup.

As for suspension....we got the front alignment set (camber, caster, toe)....as well as the camber on the rear. But, when we went to adjust toe, we ran again into the problematic rust that we have been facing with each turn of a bolt on the car. Everything seems seized like crazy. I think we have snapped four camber bolts to this point, have snapped one of the rear sway bar brackets.

We had to stop last night, as we spent a good 2 hours trying to get one bolt out...with no luck. Casey is taking the car down to see if we can get some help on this. He order a set of bolts, as well as some new bushings....as we expect that these will snap in the process of getting the damn bolts out....so that we can than adjust the toe on the car.

A new set of bushings all around will do us well...but every bolt offers us the same problem of just trying to get it out.

Does anyone know an inexpensive place to get sand blasting done....there is just so much rust on the control arms, I was thinking that haveing them san blasted and then powder coated would give us parts that we could actually work with and make adjustments on.

I almost had my brakes done here.

They are local, and they do sandblasting.

Also, the place I had my stuff done in Long Beach is awesome.

wow, you're really set on the g35 then michael?

well. if you're "seriously" looking at a g35, then i strongly recommend that u at least go take a look and test drive the BMW 335i as well. the 335i is far superior to the g35 in almost every aspect. and, the only down side is that after u drive a german car, you'll find that "sugar-coated japanese luxury cars" just won't cut it anymore- esp when it comes to the driving experience (ie road-to-car-to-driver).

AND, after you've adjusted to the sweetness of the german "horses" and "luxury performance," you'll then appreciate why the RX-8 is such a stand out car from the rest of the japanese entourage. it's truly, one-of-a-kind and in my opinion, the closest to german "fun factor" without the german price tag.

p.s. i test drove my co-workers new bmw Z4 3.0 last friday. and, 3 years later, i still know that i made the right choice in picking the rx-8 over the z4.

don't get me wrong- the z4 is a very nice car, and i definitely like it a lot. the "fit & finish" on it are top notch and much higher quality than the 8 all-around. the soft-top convertible is really nice, and the german driving "feel" and handling are great too.

still, the 8 has a lot of things that the z4 lacks. the 8 has noticeably more power, revs much smoother, and is just more "fun" to drive overall. toss in the fact that the z4's are a dime-a-dozen on the road and can only seat 2 people, and then it's an easy win for the 8. (not to mention a fully loaded 8 is still $10,000.00 cheaper than the z4.)

a fully-loaded new g37 probably runs around high $30k's, whereas a base model 335i probably low $40k's. the price difference is not as big as you'd think.

but, the engine (twin turbos), performance + handling, and fit & finish on the 335i is going to top anything the infiniti offers, imo- even tho i know they've refreshed the g line to over 300 HP now to compete.

well, just click around.

there is a very detailed 360º view of both the RS and Type-E models, as well as the interiors, and wheels. there is also a color chart (exterior + interior).

u really get to see the car from every possible angle. a few of my observations.

the enlongated/ flattened nose does seem to streamline the front end of the car so the front fenders don't flare out as much when viewed from a profile angle. that is good or bad depending on whether that bothered you, i guess... either way, it does look more sleek. also, the rear tail lights are growing on me slightly- though i do miss the front & rear rotary accents... the leather seats still have the rotary accents head rests, which are nice- tho i dunno why they got rid of 2-toned seats and went w/ solid red.

i still don't like the fugly steering wheel. and, i don't like how they relocated the navi to where the CD-player center console is.

the new rotary-accented 19" gun metal wheels are NICE tho. i'll post some pix for the language-challenges surfers.
