Still bad huh, that sucks. I have my fingers crossed. Are you driving a loaner? How long do they expect to have the car?

Scremn8 what the update with the paint?

Anybody get good deals on carpet?

At this point, don't have any info....nor do I have a confirmation that the work that will be needed will be covered. At this point, I have an estimate of work close to 1400 bucks, just to diagnose the problem, than additional costs on top of that...no loaner, until it is determined that mazda will cover it under my extended warranty....and then I will have a loaner. Driving the truck today.

Tech who went on the drive with me this morning said that they have to pull the trans apart, find the failed parts, and then call Mazda USA to get a direction on how to proceed and if the warranty will cover the repairs. Options, I would think, would be to repair portions of the transmission, or complete trans swap. I guess it depends on how bad things are....will find out more once that work has been done.

what a waste...whatever though....if he wants a discussion thread every month, thats what he will get.

The guys in northern California do this already...they have a monthly meet thread, which is given the title for the month. They have all their dicussion and cruise related stuff (pics and such)...each month.

This thread is huge...kinda a status thing at this point. There are no real topics, and this thread talks about many things. I know I very rarely go back through this thread to find specific things...other than when Loren and I are preparing for the calendar...

...and just to think, we were getting close to 10,000 responses. I guess this is what Mikeb flet like when they took back all his posts....

I would be ok with closing it and starting a new one.... I just wouldent want all these pictures and stuff deleted. we have over 2 years of pictures and topics on this thread.

I guess they wouldn't be deleted...you can save the URL and it'll still work. Casey: go to the first page and SAVE that post! Go to Edit it, and copy and paste the WHOLE thing. That way, if we lose this thread, all the monthly picture meets will still work!

One good thing, I may end up spending more time actually doing work, than cruising around the forum....
....Boostd7 implied that it was the search function that bogs the site down....I would spend my time improving that instead of chopping up threads....but, than again, who am I.

so if threads get deleted it subtracts your posts from your post count? That seems wacky....

no worries Snow....none of our posts in here count anyways.

post whoring is one reason why threads get so long, for no good reason. I reflect back on deeddubs recent past as a good example. For about two months, he posted on everything and anything...even developing threads on his minibike and such (in my mind) just to build post counts.

Other threads simply categorize you based on number of responses (novice, general, advanced...etc)...but don't give actual post counts. I found myself caught up in the post number thing a couple of times...if this was removed, it may change people's posting habits.

Here's pics from SS7. The event is much bigger now.

Thanks. I'll try though. More likely I'm going to be out of town though, which is going to suck. That SevenStock, sounds fun. When is that going to be?

Loren, it was THE RX-7!!! It's the ORIGINAL RX-7 that was used for the Fast and Furious. Universal Studios paid royalties to the owner of the car (the guy who did our dyno runs) to replicate his car for the movie.

p.s. i didn't notice it until i washed my car on sunday, but apparently safelight (or galpin mazda) made a nickel-sized scuff on my passenger side footwell- ie where the door covers when it's shut. it looks like they either dropped something heavy there or rubbed something up against it- leaving a slight rough patch of plastic exposed. it just really upset me, because it seems like whenever i bring my car anywhere for service, i always find more damage like this- ie they are so careless and thoughtless.

anyhow. does anyone have any advice or know how to touch-up/ repair minor minor scuffs to plastic like this? was wondering if i used really fine sandpaper or something if i could smooth that area down a bit, or maybe it would be easier if that entire piece should be replaced or what?

thanks.
