Sevenstock is the LARGEST gathering of Rotary Owners and cars in the WORLD! It's a joint effort between the SoCal RX7 club, Mazda North America, and even Mazda Japan.
Mazda flies in some executives, brings all their big boy race cars, 4 rotors included, etc etc. We had over 5,000 Rotaries at this event last year!

I don't even pay attention to the milage.
When I get to a 1/4 tank, I fill up.
If I was worried about milage, I would have bought a Prius for less money,
and I'd get to use the carpool lane.
Seriously, do the math.
Your changes wouldn't be this drastic, but I'm just trying to make a point.
Assuming gas is $3.39/gal and each fill-up is 14gals.
Driving 1000 miles.
@ 15.5mpg = 4.61 fill-ups. $218.79 or $0.22/per mile.
@ 19mpg = 3.76 fill-ups. $178.45 or $0.18/per mile.
For $.04 a mile, isn't it worth having fun in you car?
Otherwise, why buy a sportscar?

But, there is a difference between a car that runs on premium at 15-19 mpg, and one that runs on base fuel that gets close to 50 mpg....what would the numbers be then?...
...oh, and then the cost of ownership is lower, cause the economical car cost less to buy brand new...and the insurance is cheaper. More to the equation....but yeah......I would rather have fun. After all, I came from a Civic LS AT...which would have been the best thing for me to stay in, for practicality....but what a bore.
Jordan: I JUST heard the news about Sevenstock this morning so the details haven't been set in stone yet BUT... here's what I do know
-Sevenstock is usually around the same time every year. Septmeber - November. It will be on a Saturday on one of those weekends.
- Most likely, Sevenstock will be at Mazda's North American Headquarters, which is in Irvine, CA. Last year it was moved there from Mazda's R&D facility (also in Irvine, CA) and the location worked out much better.
- Odds are all our major forum vendors will be in attendance again; Racing Beat, Mazsport, Mazmart, Axial Flow (maybe), etc etc.

Simply comparing driving the 8 hard to driving it like my grandmother would.
Obviously the Prius would be a huge cost difference.
I wanted fun so I chose a sports car. I wanted unique, so I chose the 8.
@Jedi - I don't know if I'll volunteer this year.
It's fun getting there early and getting the inside scoop on some of the stuff.
But, I really missed out on the caravan/hang-out fun everyone else had.

omg Loren, that hurts my head to read.
It's a tough balancing act for the SoCal Club... when it was held at the R&D site, people complained that they couldn't get into the main lot, that the vendor section was too far way, that the food should be closer to the vendors, etc etc. I remember you guys being front row, next to the stage but most of us were forced to park around the corner in the street.
Last year, they crammed a LOT of cars in (maybe too many) but it was easier to go around and look at the cars. I don't know what they'll do this year but my vote is for something similar to last year. Besides....Keith knows how to fight off the Ticket Rent-A-Cop if he has to...

it didn't have power windows before?! anyone see the irony in this??
You can buy a TURBO'd car but it doesn't have power windows.
yeah yeah, I know it's optional but you think they'd throw that kind of stuff in as a standard option.

lol... i have the RS model.... its literally made to be a out of the box racecar... it comes with...
-aluminum roof (vs. the gsr which has a steel roof)
-no sound deadening material
-no stereo
-no wing
-manual windows, door locks
-no abs
-and a bunch of little interior differences
but it all equels a 200lb. lighter evo
but i decided to install a stereo, and power windows and a wing.... but mine is still lighter than all the rest even w/ those added goodies
