he probably blow a honda motor faster than his 8..he is too used to the high revs like 8k...look how he drove my fit forgetting that redline was at like 6.5k and bounce off the limiter hahaha....although the ap1 or ap2 is a bit different with a lil higher redline....

that's why the limiter (and fuel cut) are life savers...

i've made that mistake on my bmw too... one time i forgot i was in the beamer and hit like 7000+ and felt the fuel cut kick in and was like WTF and then i remembered i was driving the beamer and not the 8...

it was before i had my coffee that day.

Keep us posted ray... Hopefully ur 8'll be covered under warranty also...

Just a reminder that next Sunday is Super Bowl Sunday... I guess that would mean less traffic on the road. But, I want to watch the game. So if the drive is on Sunday then I probably will have to sit this one out.

Go Steelers!

Well the drive will be on Saturday. I just fractured my right ring finger in hockey today, so I might not even drive.

F1 vs. M5

What I found interesting was the preparation and the actual driving that Tiff Needle did. They showed the work out, breath intake/exhaust, etc... that an F1 driver should have. I liked it very much because it's something I never knew about.

this prolly could've been accomplished at one of the recent dyno-day events, since they are pulling revs anyways with multiple 8's each outfitted with different exhausts... lol

i have decent studio mics for recording, but they are not digital and hence not really useable in this application, because i would have to transfer an analog recording into digital. (Major quality loss.) at home, i have rack mount analog-to-digital I/O converters that i run the mics through. but it's not portable because (a) it's a major pain to disconnect all that **** and (b) u still need a recording medium (notebook, or digital recorder). again, at home I record direct to disk via Logic Studio (Macintosh). but, it's not portable.

the mics on our cell phones are digital, but they probably sound like crap. studio-grade portable digital recorders cost a couple hundred bucks to a few thousand dollars.

so, i'd like to help, but i really think dyno day & someone with good portable digital recording equipment is the way to go on this...

Interesting. One of my last projects before getting laid off was designing some prototype cases for a product for mic and speaker enclosures, but I didn't really know any of the underlying acoustics for it. That project turned into the project of death though; everyone on the team got laid off.

to work with computer files (mpeg, wmv etc.), the recording needs to be in digital file format. They can be recorded digitally, or recorded analog & then converted to digital. (digital meaning zeros & ones.)

microphones can be digital (ie USB) -or- analog (unbalance low-z). likewise, the recording medium can be digital (hard disk, DVD etc.) vs. analong (ie cassette tape, VHS tape).

most studios still use analog microphones with vacuum tube pre-amplifiers to capture the warm, natural sound of the human voice, and convert the signal from analog to digital on-the-fly using very high resolution and expensive analog-to-digital converters. there are, however, also digital microphones now too- though i've yet talked to anyone that uses them. maybe very soon.

that being said, the easiest "low-end" way to get an ok recording in this case would probably be to hookup a USB microphone to a notebook and then record it that way via software + hard disk. i have a logitech quickcam pro with a camera & mic, but i really don't know how well it would record with a notebook. i guess if we get bored one day, we could experiment... LOL.
