Darn I wish I'd gone tonight. My rear brakes are in need of replacement ASAP so didnt want to risk a spirited drive till they got done.

Rawrstar has a drive every week. You can follow him home then drive back to your place and you'll have a short spirited drive.

On the subject of drives; next drive will probably be the weekend of the 24th. This gives me plenty of time to get my car together and do a solid recon. The original plan for the weekend of the 17th is a little tough to do since there's more than even odds that I'll be staying up north next weekend which means any recon would be very hasty and I probably still need a day to put the car together. More information will be available as the date draws nearer. It's been awhile since the last drive!

Wheel weight vs. Wheel rigidity

Rigidity wins btw. The flex incurred during a time attack causes the wheel to lose posture therefore not making it suitable for high force situations whether it be applied on a straight or especially in a turn.

That's a bit too general. Rigidity versus weight is always a trade-off; too little of either is bad. However, there comes a transition point when having too much rigidity and therefore too much weight will end up slowing you down. The job of the structural engineer is to figure out where to ride that curve.

That's true, but what I've come to find out about things like these(i.e. experimental data and the sort) is that the minute details point out to the eventual outcome. Although this is assuming that the people performing the tests already covered both extremities and didn't leave a gamut of other possibilities.

I like this cold very much and yes I agree 110% that it's affecting my fuel uneconomically.

I took apart my cowl grill yesterday and realized that the misfit is probably not from the accident, but rather from when my windshield was replaced. I just didn't notice it until after the accident when I started trolling the entire car!

The two piece cowl grill is attached with only two screws on the side, one screw per piece. This is kind of annoying as there's really nothing putting downward pressure on the center section. The passenger side has an alignment pin feature on the firewall, but the driver's side a couple tads, the back of which hits the back of the windshield. I don't think the guy that installed my new windshield put it exactly where it's supposed to be and hence I got the misalignment for the cowl pieces. I'm trying a temporary fit and will check back when I get home to see if it holds.

No, I'm not going to realign my windshield.

STI 450hp stage 2 turbo kit

i know of an associate named Walden who's interested in a $6k investment for more power. the kit quotes 450hp, comes with cams, valve springs, injectors, gt35 turbo and such.

though the modder confides in using stock internals, where can one guess a possible weak link can be when adding 150+ hp to ones car?

pistons?
wrist pins?
c-rod?
c-rod cap/ cap bolts
bearings?
head studs?
journals?
valves?

i really don't know what else to list. maybe though the kit doesn't come with a rebuild for the end user, an aftermarket flash from brand X will magically cure any possible motor failure and it will work like a charm...

i guess it will work so well, that the entire motor will hold up! but the clutch, gears, output shaft, drive-shaft, differential gears, axles, and its associated bearings will blow up in a ball of flames.

the modder is a computer savvy individual, so i have to admit that he may be smarter than me...

can anyone vouch this is a good mod?

i wouldn't doubt they misaligned your cowl covers. those needs removal for windshield replacements.

looks a lil flimsy in there huh?

A few alignment pins wouldn't have killed them would it? I always wonder what parts on the car are designed by the interns...

^^agreed. but then it wouldn't fit the gram by gram program.

i think both of us would be happy if the intern got the memo to cut weight on the oem pulleys with aluminum, and use the rest for cowl cover bolts.

that way, both of us would've been happy and there'd be less geniuses out there setting off cel's by underdriving their pulleys and misaligning windshields

Or they could've just put on a single outlet which would've been just as efficient, but half the weight of our gigantic catback.

damn gt30r that is a huge turbo and will have a lot of LAGS. Tell him to go with something little bit better for less LAGS. but seriously if he is going to do it, probably Juni can do it or HBSpeed can do it. Hbspeed does subaru mostly and specialty are on turbo cars. So tell him to give them a call so they can see what they can do. http://www.hbspeed.com/

if u wanted to ask a question, check out iwsti.com. It have more helpful people and atleast they don't give you **** if you ask a noob questions. SO see if u can find the answer first on nasioc, if not tried iwsti and post it on there. Someone will help you on the forum.
