It shouldn't compare...the ECU's are no where near the same capabilities...hell 6 years later the thing should run rings around the Microtech
I just hope it will run the things that they say it does...I had a lot of expectations for Haltech at one time too...and that didn't work out too well

How does this piggyback work with nitrous shots over 75hp? How does it work with the spark timing? Is it on use or bound by RPM range? Trying to break that 75hp shot people keep trying to burst through with the COBB (which won't work right).

here is the problem with Nitrous ... in order to run it properly, the requirements for ignition timing are completely different when you are spraying and not spraying (I am not going to go into wet vs dry, but the same logic applies)
Ideally, you want your ECU to detect when you are spraying and do one of 2 things, once spray occurs
1. Switch to a different ignition table, with proper values for NOS (for example some Honda's, have two tables in their ECU, one for Vtec, one for no Vtec)
2. Adjust the load (directly derived from MAF/MAP/Throttle readings, which will push you to different load cells that command different ignition timing) However, this will also affect the amount of fuel injection your ECU commands. AAAAnd this is now getting into fueling and wet vs dry and all that...
Otherwise, you need to tune as if you are spraying ALL THE TIME, so that you do not blow up when you do. Obviously, when you are not spraying, you will be running ignition timing as if you are, and this will be far from optimal. The larger shot your run, the more of a hit you will be taking in your ignition timing when not spraying.
So the question is, can this ECU switch ignition tables at the flip of a switch ... so to speak
OR
Adjust the load for when you are spraying? <- This will probably be harder to tune for if running a wet shot, but both are doable.
On a personal note, this is why I skipped nitrous and went turbo ... after seeing how much I like boost, I think nitrous would have been much more expensive in the long run with all those tank refills

For those wondering about how well the units work; I sent one of these boxes out to replace a Haltech on a greddy turbo Rx-8 a few weeks ago to a NY shop. Problem with the haltech was a slight random miss, which would throw an error code, and the car wouldn't pass inspection. The car has since been tuned with the adaptronic, shop owner is very happy. Car runs and drives like OEM, and no check engine lights. I also have 5 more in the field out of the country with happy owners too.

^ Thats good...that was the problem that I couldn't reconcile with the Haltech either. Didn't matter what I did to the trigger there were random missfires that wouldn't go away
I am glad someone has been trying to advance the RX-8 ECU tuning platform....I just can't stomach the cost of the Bosch or Motec

What stink said ftw! Although you can buy a kit to make your own nitrous refill station if you have an air compressor.
But yeah the question stands... how does the Adaptronics handle Nitrous above 55hp?
If the Adaptronics system can handle timing properly for nitrous I am sooo buying one. That and it would probably make Nitrous sell given the cost is minimal compared to turbo and if you get the refill kit, free nitrous refills!

After a brief conversation with Elliot, I placed my order today. Mine will be going into a BNR upgraded GReddy 4 port. Will be adding uncapped secondary injectors at the same time as the install and increasing boost a smidge.

I ordered mine last week. I talked to Elliot over the phone which is what sold me, having no customer service for my Esmeril Kit just sucked with Jeff....I can easily give my opinion when it ships.

I am working on figuring out the nitrous related questions. I just started tuning a top mount s1 car yesterday. Loaded a new map, drove it 3 times around the building each time making a map change, and drove away. Car runs perfect up to 4 psi. Took 10 minutes.

'Looking forward to hearing more about this product before I buy one for the Nitrous Application.

PA hooks up a OBD scanner for the data. I have a flashed ECU now and it recently passed. Will this pass this type of emissions test since it resets each time?
