no one is going to just up and give Steve a copy of ME. Personal edition is married to your laptop and VIN.

If you're suggesting someone is going to buy the Pro version for him then see my first sentence.

You could always ship your laptop to him once you've gone thru the antiquated pairing process with epifan.

He will likley be tuning two turbo RX-8's with the Adaptronic soon.
Elaborate?

Well, after using versatune for the past week, I can report that it is awesome. Since I have not used mazdaedit I cannot compare the two, so I won't try. I will say that the UI of versatune is awesome, flashing is a breeze, and Steve is great to work with. The beta version I am testing has had very few issues (parameter labeling) and seems to have been sufficiently bench tested to remove posibilty of screwing up customers cars/ecu's. This is going to be an AWESOME option for people looking to tune their cars!

Glad they finally got on board. I helped them out with ECU dumps early in the development but they completely dropped communications with me after a while. Their interface was great and a heck of a lot more user friendly than ME. That being said, ME hasn't let me down yet with its capabilities.

I'm glad to hear Versatuner is still going, but their lack of communication lead me to bite the bullet and buy ME, though only the personal version. I haven't had any real issues with ME so far, apart from the obvious UI inadequacies. Honestly, I've been pleasantly surprised with the functionality and stability of the program, given the rather amateurish GUI appearance. I've also had much better support from the russian than I was expecting. Looks are important, but I feel like Versatuner is going to have to be substantially superior to entice me to buy at this point.

Ya I remember reading all you had done for them and was looking forward to discussing the ins and outs of versatune with you when it became available. I'm not sure what happened there. That's good that ME is working good though! The more the merrier (to a point)

for the flash utility, there are 3 options

Mazda Rx-8 A
Mazda RX-8 B
Mazda Rx-8 R3 (1MB)

it seems that I can pull a 2009 AT RX8 with all 3 options, but it doesn't sound right, ideas?

Back to S1, I changed the Fan on Temp and Nothing else, this is what I get when I use Mazda's Gen 1 Logger. Is that normal ?

I mean I know this car doesnt have TPM AWD, but just hope I did everything right

So with versatune, Steve was wondering if people would be interested in no lift shifting
and launch control tuning for our cars. I told him yes, but I'd see what other people think.

Haha that's pretty much what I told Steve!

Should be on the market really soon. He just emailed me wondering if this final version I'm using is ready to go on the market. And it is, so i assume it will be for sale very soon.

Bump!

Go to the Group Buy link and Sign Up. Mazda Edit and Versatune (New Release will have series 2 RX8) can be covered as needed. MS3, MS6, WRX, and STI can be included as well.

I'll let Ro_t8 comment as needed.

I just got done talking to him about that and he said that the middle of April would be a conservative estimated release date.

First thing I did was increase oiling slightly, lowered the fan on temp, and am currently working on maf scaling. I do have a tune that I am working on a little bit at a time to help with how rich my oem tune was. I know the importance of sensor scaling first before adjusting other parameters, but I couldn't help myself because I wanted to verify that it actually worked, and also because its nice to not be so rich under hard acceleration.

also Steve created a "valet" tune that he wanted me to test that had rev and speed limiters as well as drastically decreased power.

good to hear .

FWIW : I just tuned a S2 using M/E (NA)........ no problems .Now that I've done that I'm very confident I could make it work on a turbo S2 as well .

Grey line : pre tune was running lean due to aftermarket intake throwing off the fuel trims.

Green line : Fuel trims normalised

Red Line : New tune .... needs minor tweaking still but pretty much there on the first iteration.

Looks nice. Is that a wot run? If no, what percent throttle position? My cars oem tune definitely didn't have that lean issue. It was between 11:1 and 10.5:1 In the higher rpm range at wot.

There's no reason to lean out an NA engine at the low end rpm range like that, kno king it out of closed loop that early is only eating fuel and hurting power
