Kinda funky, but any S2 guys having trouble building LTFT on cruise between 2k - 4k RPM? Trying to get my MAF scaled and we are noticing this strange trend where my car doesn't build any LT trim, even though my ST's are quite high.

On what? The software?

As far as my issue goes, it chalked up to a bad maf. Been doing great. MAF is scaled, 2ndary injectors scaled, AFRs tuned a bit, and now tweaking VE table to get the tune right.

Car feels absolutely amazing.

If you haven't tuned before, holler at Kane (on the forums). He has been a great teacher.

There is a company in the UK now, GroupB Motorsport, who can definitely remap R3's if that's any help to anyone?

Welp, i think we got there. Car has been tuned by Kane, and running so damn nice. No more of that hiccup at the upper end of the rpm band... acceleration is nice and smooth literally up to fuel cutoff (didn't mean to hit it lol). We even decided to get a bit OCD and try to get the VE corrected at 8500rpm lol (hey why not).

Anyway, can't thank Kane enough for all the time he spent with me. Learned a hell of a lot and the car just feels great. Not to mention some added protection thanks to some of the other maps that were touched.

S2 owners, proof of concept is here, 100% recommend giving Kane a holler after you get MazdaEdit. Well worth it.

I'm not well versed on the trials and tribulations of FI tuning, but I dont really see anything that would prevent it.

Paimon is right .... absolutely no reason this will not tune an FI engine .

I've seen this happen where there is a major variance on what the ECU expects to see . It's almost like the ecu says "I don't want to even try and deal with this " !

Yep. Just to expand on this, the issue was actually caused by a bad maf.

I've searched and attempted to find the answer, but haven't yet. In your opinion, can a successful tune be accomplished with the Personal version? It looks like map descriptions and hex editing are only in the pro version.

I just want to make sure there's not too much missing in the Personal version.

I'm solidly in the learning / research phase so bare with me if the question is too noobish.

Absolutely - but as with any tuning software ... you need to know what you are doing

Personal version is really all you need, but yea, you need some knowhow. I have yet to run into any reason that you would need the ability to modify map descriptions. All the maps that you would need are already defined

You bet. I'll be able to figure it out. It's just going to take some reading, learning, and possibly a little pestering on here

So I have mazdaedit and have configured it some to mask a midpipe which has been working great thanks to this site!! Now I'm on to wanting to tune my 8 with it, especially after prepping my car to be tuned. Replacing and cleaning sensors, intake, midpipe, big 3, ignition system, slight port and polish to the throttle body. I've been reading around and looking all over this forum and the internet for a maps file to compare my ecu to a like NA 8. I tried to start another thread seeing if some series II guys could share their mazdaedit config file but for some reason couldn't make a new thread under Series II tuning to do that. What I'm after may be out of reason really, I'm not too sure. But by comparing enough maps. I wonder if a simple baseline configuration could be established and shared via rx8club for others starting or currently using mazdaedit kinda like the cobb does. Is this possible!? Trying to follow forum rules and all if I'm out of line on this or posting in the wrong area I do apologize in advance.

Also from just researching it seems fuel trim is the way to go but again I could be wrong as I'm still trying to learn how to tune wo making any changes to my 8 because I lover her and do not wish to screw her over in some way.

honestly the only 'baseline' configuration that would really make sense would be an increase in the omp rate and slight decrease in fan-on temps. All other parameters would have a variant across cars in different areas, different mods, etc etc and would just add to the time taken to tune vs starting from your car's own factory base.

Use your "basemap" or OEM configuration file and modify it to get the results you want. The final result is heavily car dependent and so you need to tune your car. All the info on Cobb tuning applies...the only difference is the flash device...the maps you need to change are basically the same ones..and follow the same rules

Just got done flashing my car's first tune. Nothing huge yet, just fan temps, omp rate increase, semi warm rev limit , etc.. it's about time we can start tuning our s2's!

He has tuned many series I turbo and Pettit SC RX-8's. I don't know that Steve has tuned any series II RX-8's, I highly doubt it. He is not familiar with Mazda Edit or the Adaptronic but is confident he can figure it out pretty easily. He will likley be tuning two turbo RX-8's with the Adaptronic soon.

Anyone have dyno results from tuning with kane? An extra 15whp would make the car quite a bit better.
