Hi guys/gals,

I'm wanting to get some rims for my 8, but I need someone to school me on offset. I'm for sure getting 19X8.5 all around. The 3 offsets I have to choose from are +20, +35 and +45. I understand stock is +50, so am right by saying that as I go from 45 to 30 to 20 the centerline of the rim moves closer to the hub mounting surface and the lip on the rim increases? Is that right? Also, can I fit any of those offset, or will some not work? Thanks in advance

Alright. Well I respect your opinion. And trust me, if it was completely up to me and not part of my parents decision, I'd be driving a MT. However, I still LOVE my car and I still have tons of fun in it, plus it's Teptronic (or however you spell it) which is basically the same thing, right? Just kidding...

But, it doesn't help when there's users like you that trash other people's cars because they aren't MT's. Imagine that. Something I spend a great amount of my money on and you basically make it seem worthless and a waste of money. That's the reason things get posted about the people on this forum being jerks. It's a good thing I love my car as much as I do, haha. Anyway, I don't say that to offend you and I know you have a right to talk crap because you have over 1k posts and all. But think about how it would make someone feel when they spend A LOT of their money and time on a car they love and you say "I don't know why they make it" and "auto kills everything"

Because, it's still a gorgeous car, it's not that slow for a sports car, it still handles incredible, and it can ALWAYS bring a smile on my face.

Hello, I don’t know much about the wheels on the 8, I am looking into getting some new wheels, and I am wondering if anyone can help me out, I am looking to put some MRR GT-5’s on my car. Does anyone know about that brand at all?

The specs are:

19" X 8.5

Ok, i'll take a stab at this one...

-On paper, i don't see any of those offsets not working on 8.5 wheels, however i've never seen 8.5's w/a +20 offset. Someone may want to step in on this one and verify. I've had 8.5's w/both +35 and +38 offset and both fit fine w/245's

-and yes, going lower in offset will be bringing you closer to the hub causing the 'concave' look.

-Depending on the wheel, the lip may increase - i know that te37's don't have a huge lip, but as you go lower in offsets there will be one rather then just being more concave.

The brand isn't popular with us mainly because a lot of people look for 'performance' wheels (i.e. lighter, forged, wider) - from the looks of those wheels they look heavy - plus being only half an inch wider than stock wheels the rubber to the road won't be much more - you could just stick w/stockers and upgrade the compound. But if you want to go with those wheels - they'll fit fine...your bolt pattern is 5x114.3 btw.

Thanks Atilla!! One more question...I realize it probably depends on the rim, but would I expect to see much of a difference in the 'concave' look of the rim compared to stock if I went with a +45? Or would the difference not really be that noticeable? Also, how much more concave would the +35 look compared to stock? Does it get pretty significant at 35 or no? Thanks

Short answer: Not really.

An easy way (for me anyways) to kind of see what it would look like with a lower offset is to take off one of your stockies and put a meter stick across it. From there you'll know what the stock offset is +50 (iono, just going off what you said) from there take it down by 5mm and you'll be at +45, go down by another 10mm and you'll be at +35. From there it's all your imagination.

there's some pic's on the forum, i'll see if i can dig up some a little later to help. There's also a link on the previous page that J posted to Polak's car. He's running 9.5 wheels at +35. you can look at that as well.

Thanks, so if I go with 19X8.5 +35mm offset and go with 245s, will that fit with no problems? I'm not lowered or anything, but would like to drop it a bit in the future. Also, I have no idea what camber is, would I have to worry about that? Thanks again!!!

Camber would actually work in your favor if anything -

and if you run into fitment issues w/245's on a 8.5 wheel, let me know - because that'll be news to me haha - (i'm running the same w/no issues, lowered on swifts and cambered)

I appreciate the information about these wheels… Honestly, I only like the way they look, they may not be worth it is going to weigh me down. Do you know of any wheels that are more on the ‘performance’ side that look close to these?

I don't want to be looked down on in the world of 8s because i have crappy wheels haha.

Alex: there's a lot of good, light wheels - most common are the enkei rpf1's - probably one the lightest and most common wheel - you can find em' for a good price w/the vendors on this forum - 5zigen fnor1's are another good choice.

my favorites (aside from the one's i just stated) are: Enkei rpo3's, volk te37's, volk re30's (not sure how light these are) - they're all around around stock weight, but definately in better sizes...

it really depends on your spending limit

fnor1 aren't light, they look good, they weigh more than the stock wheel with on most sizes.

Yeah some 17's are lighter but not much 17x10 are a little more, the 18's are all more

Hey, do many of you have different offsets for the front and rear wheels? I've been looking at some pics and it looks like on some the front wheels are almost flush like stock, but the rears are really concave. Just wondering if that's common and what people's thoughts are on it?

Flush and concave do not mean the same.

Flush means that the fender and the wheels line up. concave means the wheels are bent inward.

Ya, sorry for the confusion, what I'm asking is do many people have one offset for the front wheels (say +45mm) and a different for the rear (say +35mm)? I would totally be for looks only, but I'm wondering if many people do this? Thanks.

Called Staggered - some do it for looks some do it cause we have extra power to those rear wheels.

I know that they'll fit (talked to another member here), but what about rubbing? I want no rubbing if possible.

I'm on stock suspension.
