I'm on H&R springs and my car is pretty low.
Not everyone wants the harsh ride of high spring rates you get associated with coilovers, nor has the money to drop on expensive coilovers that do yeild a decent ride for street.
I'm assuming he didn't preload properly or perhaps even got some Tein knock-offs.
Try loosening the bolts again and drive around the block. Come back and tighten it up.
My method of preloading is to loosen the arms, drive onto the alignment rack and jounce the suspension several times before re-tightening the arms. Works like a champ!
Alternatively, putting a floor jack under the knuckle and re-tightening is the most practical solution.

they dont really make any noticeable change in ride height from stock

Are you really going to just post to pick apart my words?
They came in a tein box, Has the tein part numbers, had tein stickers in the box, says tein on them. They would be pretty good replicas lol and the procedure that you explained is what I did. It was lower after the spring install then I preloaded them like you said and it went even lower.... I'm going to invest in coilovers next year

"Pre-loading" is tightening the suspension bolts before putting the car back on the ground. It is usually done by compressing the springs prior to installing them on the struts. Or by compressing the spring on the coilover by using the spring perch.

Majority of members on here do the preload method, not my method. How many actually have access to a shop(that aren't techs), let alone an alignment rack they can fart around on.
