My boyfriend bought an rx8 07 about two months ago. He and few other people tired to get it started and they couldnt. I voiced my opion about what it could be but he didn't listen so a couple days of trying he said you get to work on the mazda. So the next day I go outside in the pouring rain and I unplugged the fuel pump because I thought it was flooded and guess what? Yes it started so since then I've been the mechanic for the mazda. I've never worked on a car only mowers. So i took off the intake and breather box to look for any hoses or lines that were disconnected..... Well when I went to put it back together I found two hoses coming out of the transmission (I'm pretty sure) and another hose coming from under the air pump. So yeah when I got it all back together I had three extra hoses. So.... It's all taken out yet again.... And I have looked everywhere Google, handbooks, and forums. I can not find any diagram for what I'm looking for. And turns out I don't have a catch can I guess. So I was looking at diagrams for engines that had a catch can so when I finally learned that I felt really dumb. So I was really hoping someone could give a diagram for three hoses I'm looking for and where the hell they go??

There aren't any hoses from the transmission.... so your choices are a breather that comes off the rear of the intake manifold (larger hose) or the small vac line that goes from the intake to the VFAD valve on the stock intake....or the lines that go to the solenoids on the rear of the upper intake from the SSV and Air valve and the VDI.
Or is there a Gauge in the interior that they attached a vac line too?
Attach a picture that shows the lines and it will be easier to help you

Are you sure that isn't a coolant hose? Goes to the throttle body. There should be 2 of them....

Ok thank you. One more question where does the hose that comes of the back of the oil filler neck go? It's a bigger line.

It's one of the ones that goes to the accordian tube on later model cars. They added extra crankcase ventilation to try and help the condensation issues in colder climates

Ok. So I put all my hoses and lines (hopefully) on correctly. I'm pretty sure they are right. Well I checked the oil before I went to start it. I should have checked the coolant level but I didn't. Well I smelled gas in the oil and the oil was wanting to just drop off of the dipstick. Which I thought was not normal. I asked my friend if they thought it was un-normal and they didn't. So I started the car. The first time she didn't catch so I let the the start cool down and tried again. It took a little bit but she did start. White smoke coming from the exhaust and smelled gas like around the car. And I stepped on the gas and no RPMs..... The sound was like muffled or low sounding.... And it back fired!! Like super loud and she died as soon as I put it into reverse. I've read several different possible diagnosis and not really sure which one to start with.... And what you think about it? And also would the car run like that if the hoses I hooked up were wrong?

Vacuum lines and wiring

I bought a JDM Remesis to power my Suzuki Samurai. The engine was very clean with no wrench marks, other than on the ac lines along with two taped connectors. I pulled the plugs and squirted some oil in the cylinders, housings and let it set a day. It turned it over easily and smoothly with a long handled socket wrench. The plugs didn't look too bad either so I thought I'd go ahead and try to use it as is along with new coils, plug wires, plugs, new or cleaned injectors. I'm taking off most of the stuff (thanks to the help of this forum) on the engine so I can send it to get powder coated or polished and taken pictures along so I can reassemble it.

So now I'm looking at the top of the engine-the wiring and all the vacuum hoses. I'm sure the Mazda engineers plotted and planned the shortest distance and most practical ways of spreading the vacuum and electricity, but it looks like a mess. I plan to cap all the vacuum sources and get a Leed Vacuum pump to supply the vacuum, rerouting everything to the pump by, maybe 2 main manifolds, one on each side of the engine. I don't know what to do about the wiring though.

Has anyone come up with a more aesthetic system of running vacuum hoses and wiring on top of the engine?

In the picture it shows the unions for the air hoses on the accordion, where can i get them. all three of mine are cracked. The car was given to me and although i know piston engines, i am new to the rotary world. I am having limp mode issues and have replaced all kinds of sensors and the OMP. STILL IN LIMP MODE, so I believe it is a vacuum issue as most all of the plastic hose connections are all cracked, and were glued by previous owner. So.... If anyone could help i would appreciate it.
