How do you know a vacuum hose blew if you don't know where they are? In general, while a vacuum hose issue might make the car run like **** or not at all, they are relatively minor issues that lead to sensors not knowing what is going on. Most originate on the intake manifold which will generate vacuum while the engine is running at partial throttle. Look for a rubber hose that has slipped off a connection or possibly touched something hot that it should not. Vacuum hoses are not usually blown on N/A cars. Most of the time, they melt or are left off when someone does some intake work and forgets or routes them incorrectly.

everyone i talk to says that it sounds like a vacuum hose blew or slipped off. the sound of air escaping is coming from towards the top of the engine by the intake but you cant really see much w/o taking stuff apart.

I was referring to cainamadzam's post. He joined the forum 11 days after me, and his first post was this...

That just did not look like the response you were asking for, does it? My shop manual is at home.

Cool Intent......

I think what "cainamadzam" was trying to imply, was that if a single problem (as yet undefined, undiagnosed and unrepaired) makes your car "....an expensive pile...." maybe you are not RX-8 material, should go buy a Camry, and be happy .

This car sucks air like a Turbo, if u step on the gas nice and hard u can hear some *pssssssssssttttt* psssssssstttt* sound all the time.

Not sure which one u're talking about here. theres 2 on the intake and a really tiny one that goes into the throttle body(I cap this one myself, dont need it)

If u cant see it, you must be blind I suggest u to stop driving.

by definition, a vacuum hose has a low pressure inside... physics would say its impossible to "blow up" a vacuum hose as a leak would cause it to suck (literally and figuratively)
