Dumb question:

Did you reset the ECU after swapping solenoids?

OK, I got it off the tranny and in the A/C !!! now I have the flywheel off, I have managed to break loose the pulley lock bolt (but have not removed it), because I can not for the life of me get the nut behind the counterweight off.

All the tourque I am generating with an 18 in pipe wrench is just rolling the entire block. I am working on strapping it down... I cannot find a standard socket big enogh to fit it (80mm or so?)

Seems like after this I can remove the oil pan, pull the front cover, flip it on its back, and unstack the housings?

if you took the clutch off then you will need a 2 1/8 inch socket (typically from sears or mabye a local auto parts if your lucky). you can use the handle from your floor jack as a cheater bar (if its aluminum I wouldnt though). then it all just comes apart

self test for the ssv is that it cycles when you turn the car off-so--have someone turn it off while you are looking under the hood--if you can here it then its working.
If your fuel pump is acting up and causing the sx's you posted--the a/f's would be affected--just run a log?
Hope that helps?

Likely "sx" means symptoms

Check the fuel pressure....the consequences of poor fuel delivery can be devastating

Automatic Transmission

I have a 4 speed AT so... maybe that makes a difference? I locked the counterweight with a piece of 1/4 plate steel with drill holes then just put a couple bolts back in the block, It had some kind of grey putty like lock tite on the threads, I tried heating it to expand it, but the main issue still seems to be putting the tourqe into the bolt, not generating torque... My dad and I are gonna fight with it some more tomorrow. Just aggravating. I am ready to get this thing open and get my parts on order, and start cleaning. I am moving in Mid-August so I am starting to feel the clock.

Thanks Dannobre.......hopefully thats what it meant

I am suspected fuel issues for a while now and that is possibly a major part of my issue. I think 9k has an extra pump I can use to test with before I order a new one.

I just can’t get over the SSV issue; I look forward to at least isolating this issue

sorry man dont know squat about removing the AT CW

to me it looks like you have it free'd its just stuck on the "key". mine took a few wacks with a rubber mallet but again I would wait for confirmation from other members before you go wacking on it (if it was me I wouldnt wait)

--lol--sorry about that--lived at the hospital too long. Yes sx's =symptoms.
I take it that the apv is opening ok?
After to log a little data and if the a/f's are ok look at the grams per sec of air flow. If that small dip is not there then the ssv is probably not opening.
You can always tie the ssv open. It may be a tad bit harder to crank ( mine wasn't).Do a little run But then you will know for sure if it is the valve or not.

OD, I assume that it the APV is good but only because the SSV code is what’s thrown (although I do have p2004 or whatever all of the ported SARX members have for stuck APV)

I did a test (or several different acceleration scenarios) under different loads. A few times it seemed like I got better acceleration under 75% throttle vs. full (again not completely consistent). Also had that "blip" again (I mentioned this a few days ago), this time at smooth cruise @ 5k rpm.

I do want to emphasise that the majority of the time I only have minor hesitations (I can feel them very faintly). only 1 or 2 times a drive cycle is the major power loss at high rpm an issue

I am wondering if the problem is weak APV motors? All of our APV motors have well over 100k on them.

I cant help but wonder if I will get the code as well. My APV motor should have less then 70k and my apv's are not ported. I wonder how much the APV motor would cost new.

My APV's are not ported. Mine cycles fine as well but if it's weak maybe they don't open fast enough or fully?

your apv's are not ported.....I thought that's why you had the code.....are you thinking its from the street port we did on the irons?

I will seriously revisit this this weekend

right, is that what you thought caused that APV code is us all being ported?

That was my uneducated guess, it doesn't even make sense to me It's either that or we all fucked something up installing something
