My engine rebuild.
I don't think there was any work that could have been saved. front cover needed to come off. oil pan needs to drop with the front cover. Believe me I did it the easiest less work involved way.
I went through the various diagnostic steps to see where the problem was coming from. Found the problem, now I'm working on a solution.
Well in order for me to do it properly and fit my own standards it did. Cleaning off the sealant on the exposed section of oil pan and front cover then re sealing wasn't in the books for me.
The whole thing comes off gets cleaned and prepped then new silicone is applied and seated. That's kinda how I do things.

I would reuse the front counter weight. But I would replace the thrust washer on the CW. Also new bearing and new collar.
Pulling the pan is a better way to alleviate the chance of any future oil leaks.

I gave Atkins another chance since mazdatrix are overpriced greedy cash hogs. I guess someones gotta keep Dave's time attack 8 full of parts and new tires. $33.XX for two thrust bearings at mazdatrix... Atkins had them for $17... Yea.
why wait--use this stuff and you dont have to wait at all. i have used it for years--also comes in a aerosol can

I like the steel seal ad on the bottom of this page...
STEEL SEAL "Repair blown head gaskets with no disassembly!" "Lifetime Guarantee!"
Oh google ads you make me laugh.

/\ there used to be a product called 'piston seal ' . Theory was you never had to replace your rings . Just pour the **** down the sparkplug hole and all would be good .
In my teen yrs a mate had a ford prefect 100E and we thought we would give this stuff a go . If we had done it today the terrorist squad would have been called out . We smoked out the whole neighbourhood .
Anyway , we neglected to realise that our engine was a side valve . Need I say more .

Update time...
Doing the oil pan now. functional oil injectors are installed d585 coils are going on tomorrow. finishing up everything else tomorrow all fluids are going back in.
I have a leak near the oil filter hopefully it was from a pinched oil filter gasket and nothing else...
