i think i ran it.. i liked the smell of the mrs butterworths better!

the craziest was a belray from a motorcycle dealer. super duper something. it was all syn. and was about 15 bucks a qt..

i was out of town. need to get it. and did not know the price when i put it on the counter.. you live you learn.

it was thicker than most of the stuff i used.. i blame it for my tank issues. but that was also in my dump and pump days..

beers

I do that - no problems yet touchwood . I actually run it to almost dry - within 2-3 litres of dry . Then i dump in the premix and pump in the gas

There are two generally exepted ways to mix premix with your gas.

1)Wait until you are low on fuel, go to gas station, dump in 6-8oz or whatever you are using of premix, fill tank with gas. This is based off the theory that the volume of gas being pumped into the tank in the alloted time will be more then sufficient in mixing the additive.

2)Put measured premix in a 1L bottle, top off 1L bottle with gas and shake, fill tank with gas about halfway, dump in contents of 1L bottle, top off tank with gas. Some also believe you should not dump in the contents of the bottle until after the tank is full. To me, this is overkill unless you are using some kind of thick additive.

IMO, either works well, but the first one will work just as good as the second if you are using a somewhat thin and easily mixable additive like MMO. Most who choose option 2 believe that the additive will goop up the sock giving you issues down the line. Many people have used both methods without any issues. Now, you get to make your own decision on which to use.

yes follow your sig...

every single person on this thread has an opinion but what the majority agrees on is premixing is bueno.

so with that info MMO and Idemitsu get the best reviews for different reasons which is why people combine them sometimes. just keep reading and sifting through the BS youll figure it out.

Why do you think there are 75 pages?

As soon as provides your "definitive answer", there will be another 75 pages of rebuttals.

I couldnt Agree more...

I stay within this mantra... I gather up as much info as possible and from that info I make my own conclusions. That is the best way for you to be sure that you are doing the right thing. Knowledge Is power as they say. Specially on this topic. Personally, I do the MMO and Idemitsu premix blend lol. 3oz MMO which I very much like. And 4oz Idemitsu which has been very solid for several years. My 8 loves it and my 13b Powered toyota starlet Still lives because of it. It has exactly 87,379 miles on it Today. I put that engine in that vehicle with 0 miles on it in 2002. It was a rebuilt engine. I have used That same MMO Idemitsu Blend for all these years and that same engine still runs like a champ. It is abused on a regular basis. Take care of this wonderfull engine and it will give you many years of ROTARY POWERED FUN!!!

I do that sometimes also, but do as I say, not as I do. Don't make me come up there. Just because. Because I said so. Go ask your mother.

Is there a list of premixes used anywhere in this thread? I know the main ones but just in case I'm missing something.

I've seen it at a few places on the web, but Mazdatrix is the only place I know of where you can get it by the case.

I posted a link on the previous page to Jax's list. Not exhaustive, but most of the better ones, I think.

This was my first time using premix in a "car," but so far everything is working just fine. Again, this is the first time I have done this in a car, NOT saying this is the way you should do it, only that this is how I did it.

I bought a 2 gallon gas can and added 1 gallon of 93 octane gas - then added 4oz premix (500:1 ratio or so) - I then shook the can briefly untill the premix looked like it was evenly mixed with the gas.

I then filled the car's gas tank 1/2 full with 93 octane - I added my premix to the car's gas tank - then filled the car's gas tank with 93 octane untill it was full. I Immediately drove 15-20 minutes/miles to circulate gas a little more.

After 25 miles I am starting to feel the premix kicking in. My engine feels a little smoother. I will drive it further tomorrow and reply with any new results.

Any comments, concerns, or corrections.

/\ You will soon tire of this, just dump the stuff in the tank, fill it up with gas, then drive at 35 and do a few slaloms to mix it up...

Hi Ash, you are probably right. It will only take a few fill ups for me to become lazy and start on the easy way to do it. I think I'll find a few small 4oz bottles and fill them with premix. Thanks!

When I started this a year and a half ago I was all scientific about it too.

But after a while you realise you do not need to be so precise.

I just buy whatever pre-mix that is JASO FC or ISO EGD and dump it in the tank before filling up. I eyeball 4oz and thats it.

Has anyone tried Castrol Power 1 Racing 2T (http://www.castrolmoto.com/en/produc..._racing_2t.php). This one is fully synthetic and is the most expensive one in the range.

I put in 200ml to a full tank and after an hour's drive, noticed a deeper throatier note to the exhaust when I got home. Need to run it a little longer to see if it idle is smoother and fuel consumption improves.

Using on a 2009 FL by the way

I got some amsoil Interceptor premix, I couldn't find any saber pro around here, and they are suppose to be similar except the Interceptor has more detergents. It says you can premix 50:1 but at a 12gallon fill up that is 30oz of premix! That seems a bit high... I was thinking more around the 5oz range.

I use Interceptor as well, its easier to source around here than Saber Pro.

5oz is fine. I use anywhere between 4oz and 8oz depending on situation.

Question:

What is the difference, content wise, between 2T oil and premixes such as Idemitsu Rotary Premix and Royal Purple?

Are they the same stuff, i.e. just different names?
