I was looking at one of the near by retailers for oil and I found Redline 2-stroke Racing oil for 10$. Should I get it?
Or do I have to get the real Idemitsu ****?

I also heard it's best to put 8oz at max fillup.

 

8oz with the stock OMP is overkill.

 

get idemitsu it's the only thing i felt comfortable using because it's actually made specifically for a rotary engine, not a dirtbike, weedeater, or chainsaw...

and i mix 6 oz, and 8oz would definately be a max

 

Redline is excellent stuff.

Idemitsu is without a doubt good, but not essential.

You need a great lubricant which burns clean and smokeless - use nothing that doesn't meet the ISO-EGD standard (JASO-FC for JDM oils)

 

Stealth was wondering what you think about the Lucas Oil products for premix.

Im always on the prowl for what I can get easily and cheaply at Canadian Tire.
I just hate having to stock stuff and having to go to ... THAT shop, way across the city just to get oil...

Since CT significantly raised the price of AMSOIL products this year, I gave Lucas a try.

Since when does 'ISO-EGD' sound like TCW-3?

TCW-3 is the exact OPPOSITE of good oil.

It's boat oil, made to NOT burn, to slop around inside the chamber, and be bio-degradable underwater.

DO NOT USE, it's crap.

Write this down - 'ISO GD'

Unless you find a boat oil that meets BOTH standards, avoid TCW-3, please.

Shazy - the Lucas stuff ticks all the boxes - low carbon buildup, smokeless, Jaso and ISO - good stuff. Their UCL is very good too, no good as actual two-stroke, but a fine lube that burns completely, it's mostly polyisobutylene, which lubricates then burns completely.
Most modern two-strokes have a heavy dose of PB in their formula.

I always have a big jug of Lucas UCL around, for years.

I use it instead of premix once in a while in between bottles when I run out.

I also use a goo 10oz of it in a tank every few months.

Shazy, it felt good, but a but dyno comparison of premixes is so useless its irrelevant.

I just try finding something decent thats about 10$ a pint.
The Amsoil was raised from 10$ to 16$ at CT this year, which pissed me off cause I like the Amsoil premixes. (not the boat one )

 

Ok I completely understand. Well Kind of. Only reason why I said TC-W3 crap is because of the other pages earlier someone said : As long as it's TC-W3 it should run fine for premixing... Ok well thank you anyways.

 

I will most likely start using Idemitsu. I was the first owner with the new engine and started premixing with MMO right after the break in period and i notice i consistently get better gas mileage using the MMO compared to when i dont use anything but i think im going to start using Idemitsu and see how that goes. Sounds like most of you are using like 4oz of that and another 2oz of FP+

 

I'm seriously having fun with MMO I can feel the power difference and idle.. MPG dropped from 20 to 18 but whatever.

 

8 oz bottles, not 8 oz of premix. Said I use around 4 oz of idemitsu with 1 oz of FP+. Sometimes I do add a lil extra oil on rare occassion, but not the full 8oz. Most times I'm filling up with 12 gallons, so 8oz would be a bit too much. I wouldn't normally go higher than 1/2 oz per gallon with OMP active.

On a sad note, I left one of my bottles at a gas station a couple weeks ago. Fooy.

 

Yep, I use 5 to 5.5 oz in my 09 per tank which is just right with the new EMOP system, anymore is too much.

$14 for 1 quart? Cuz you can get a whole case of Idemitsu for like 60. That lasts a looooooong time. I forget how many quarts in a case, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think its 12,

That changes things quite a bit. Which is why us Canuckians always try and find local suppliers if possible.

Stealth mentioned more than one, NO BOAT OIL. HP Injector is TC-W3, which is not what you want.

AMSOIL does have good options though:

Dominator seems to be the best. They are all expensive now at Canadian Tire, almost 16$. I need to find a source by the gallon for Dominator.

Everywhere you see people mention using FP+ (cant source that in Canada), you can use Lucas UCL instead.

Yeah, forget about the CT website, I just went on it too, it has nothing good.

There are dozens of oil products on the shelves which arent even mentioned on the website.

 

Aside from the price issue, what's been recommended around here is Amsoil Saber Professional. I'm no expert, so I won't bother repeating the explanations that I don't fully understand but you can search on Amsoil Saber Pro/fessional if you're curious.

 

Yeah I just figured it out, just my stupid retailer didn't show it on the site, Im going to be going there in a little while to find some stuff like, Amsoil Saber or Dominator...
Any other oils other than the Lucas Semi synthetic oil and Amsoil that will work for premix? (Exclude Idemtsu as I know that obviously works and not MMO)

Ok, cope with me, on my site I found PJ1 Goldfire Pro Oil Premix... it said premix, so Im figuring that's fine, but it really isn't a known brand, as I haven't seen anyone bring it up in this thread yet. So i'm unsure to use it, but whatever, once I will go there I'll just pick up some Amsoil Saber.
