Does MMO as a premix have any adverse effects on the environment—compared to not premixing?

If by MMO you mean Marvel Mystery Oil, then yes that is the brand. However, I am talking about Motorcycle Motor Oil, commonly used as a premix for small engines. So yes, high quality and name brand do come into play.

I thought MMO meant Marvel Mystery oil, and not Moto Moto Oil, hehe. Too many TLAs.

as for idemitsu rotary premix, i was wondering if that was like all you needed, it is a 2 stroke oil lube deal.

and last question....

i just put a tcw-3 2 stroke oil in my tank....is it ok to leave it in? or should i do something about that?
Anthony, that's probably more than you need since you still have a working OMP, right? For those who want to go to the trouble, it seems like a lot of us mix 5-6 oz of Idemitsu and FP+ per full tank, mostly just following Jax's advice. Idemitsu by itself is great, but I add the FP+ to help out more against carbon build-up. Simpler and thinner solution is just 5 oz of MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil). That's what Jax himself ended up doing, although IIRC he also had a Sohn adapter with a separate Idemitsu tank. I wouldn't worry about what's in your tank now. IIRC, someone may have raised some questions about the ability of Lucas UCL to mix with other stuff but it's probably fine too.

i mixed 6 ounces of idemitsu two tanks in a row, then didn't mix for the next two tanks.

i did this so i could compare the two, and the premix honestly makes the car run a lot more smooth. i didn't see any mpg increase, but i could definately feel the car running a lot better.

FP PLUS by LCD, Inc Apparently, it has a specific ingredient called cyclohexanone that not only dissolves carbon but converts it into a kind of graphite lubricant.

I wouldn't let that old 2003 thread scare you away from MMO. People who know a lot more than you or me swear by it.

ah thank you so much, well it didn't scare me untill i saw what stealth posted, and i put a great deal of trust in him, he knows his stuff.

what do i use? i'm iffy with mmo, people are saying it works others dont.
and i'm actually about to go drain my tank. i'm pretty sure my 2cycle oil (tc-w3 nmma certified) is castor based :/

i'm not liking the 50$ per gallon on fp + though :/

Many of us use a simple mix of Idemitsu and FP+. You only need 1 oz of FP+ per 10 gal of gas--that's good for 25,000 miles. If I didn't have any in stock, 'though, I wouldn't hesitate to use MMO. It's simpler and cheaper, especially if you buy it in bulk.

i just read jax's post on mmo, and now its down to:

mmo or idemitsu and fp+ as a mix. should i mix anything with mmo?

and i'm afraid to drive my 8 anymore as for i might have castor based 2 stroke oil in it. to drain it, i would simply disconnect fuel line, and just turn on car right? fuel pump should just shoot it all out?

thanks again!

Don't blow yourself up, Anthony. That would be the end to a good source of amusement around here. You don't need to mix anything with MMO.

If you used a lot of it over time it would be bad for your cat. But what makes you think that you even used a castor-based oil in the first place?

MMO is Marvel Mystery Oil. There's only one product by that name.

once again thank you so much, you've been so helpful.

http://www.marvelmysteryoil.com/inde...site/products/

there's a few that seem to be the same, but i'm not quite sure. they have 3 different products to add to fuel.

and the 2 stroke oil i bought does not mention synthetic anywhere. tc-w3 is usually not synthetic. no website. not popular. grrrrrr

Don't need the stuff that says Diesel Supplement. I guess they do make different products, but I thought you were going to say that MMO was some kind of generic motorcylcle oil like the other guy. Just use the normal stuff, it's the first product on the page you linked. Called "Marvel Mystery Oil" and cheaper in the larger containers. Some are just considered more convenient packaging and therefore more expensive. I think you can get a 50-gallon drum, but you probably won't have your 8 that long.

Exclamation

Need help!

Car has 39k miles, '04 AT. For the first time in 5 years I put 4oz of MMO in the tank along with 13gal of 91 octane. 35 miles later, my CEL turned on. Is this a result of the MMO premix?

I find the timing very suspect. How do I clear the CEL?

4 clicks on the gas cap

Its not the premix... I can 99.9% guarantee it.

Thanks for the reply. I thought of the gas cap so I removed it and put it back on, 3 or 4 clicks. No change. I guess I'll try it again. Never had this problem before. Do gas caps go bad? Seems like an odd part to "fail".

It doesnt fail, but if you put it on wrong or not enough clicks it can cause this.

It takes 2 drive cycles I think to reset.
