slash128's Top Mount Build

Received them today and installed. I was starting to have idle issues and thought is might be the mounts. Last week we went to an event at a winery. The parking lot was gravel. On the way out my low car caught a rock underneath. I checked but all I could find was a scrape on the downpipe/midpipe flange. The car ran home fine but the next time I went to start it up it was slower to start and idles rough. At speed it is fine, still builds boost like before, no apparent issues otherwise, just at idle. There seems to be a sucking sound I can't place, so perhaps a vacuum leak...
Here's a video of the idle sound:

STFT at idle are right around 5%. Also running leaner than I like. And hotter. I'm staring to wonder if my OMP breather hose got knocked loose behind the UIM. That seems to be where the sound is coming from.

I just got back home so engine bay is still hot. I will poke around after it cools down.

So is it critical to put a finger on the hole or is listening sufficient? I didn't have anyone available to help so I just pulled a plug (and fuel pump fuse and relay) and listened. Solid sounding pulses on both chambers. I took video I will post later.
EDIT: as I listen to it with headphones the rear chamber does seem to have a slight change in sound.

This is the front chamber, all pulses sound consistent:
This is the rear chamber, slight variation in sound, low compression?:

I'd cover the hole with finger - because you want to seal it so you can feel the pressure differences between the chambers.

Nah, it's good! I've been telling Fazda I've been looking forward to the day it goes so I can attempt a rebuild. Not a bad run for a reman engine with 20K miles, half of those boosted. At least it's low compression and not likely something catastrophic. I guess I'll see when I crack it open. My only regret is that it didn't happen closet to winter. Oh well, I can start planning all the things I want to do while it's under the knife

now we'll actually get to see how long a motor can last on that kind of power... Should possibly make even more power on a fresh motor. GL with rebuild

Thanks man! It will likely be a slow process because this summer is going to be busy. But I'll post updates as it goes.

from the phone I couldn't hear the difference but listening on the youtube, you can hear there is a slight difference in the rear chamber.
will be fun to help build another engine!

Ya I tried listening to it on the phone first as well and didn't really hear it until I used headphones.
