nyc---isnt the belt tensioner pulley's bearing more recessed on one side? The spacer goes into the more recessed side---if I remember right?

OldDragger: the spacer won't fit on the other side of the tensioner pulley.

Guys what's up with everyone selling. I'm just starting this SC adventure. The selling is getting me depressed. Lol

don't get me wrong
this car is everything I have ever wanted in an RX-8
it has exceeded every expectation I ever had planned
realiability, power, agility, civility, and drivability
but if I am going to have a car for track use only (no street) and trailer it to events why not have a full blown racecar

Why don't you consider turning what you have into a track car. The Pettit kit already shattered a track record.

too big and heavy
would never be competitive with something like a 1300lb radical
just not the direction I want to go in

Well fixed the tensioner pulley situation. I also got a new shaft spacer made. Installed the car sounded a little quiter. Took a spin in the car the 1st pull felt super strong. Then back to stock power. Popped the hood and the SC once again threw up oil into the catch can and leaked in the front main pulley. I took the pulley out and the seal was worn away. I guess From causing the groves in the previous spacer.

I'm at the store now waiting for a new seal. If it doesn't work after this I must have a busted blower that needs a rebuild.

What I don't understand is if I spin the pulley on the blower is super smooth. Also if I spin it with out the pulley; just the bolt, it's super smooth.

Could it be getting so hot it's throwing up oil because of the heat?

Yep. As fun as the 8 has been to drive, learn, and tinker with, allmost 10 years is a long time to devote to 1 car.

Depends how you look at it. I look at it like this. The handling on the rx8 is awesome. Its nearly impossible for any car in the price range of an rx8 to keep up with it on the race track. Spend a little money making the rite choices in what you do to this rx8 and for under $20k you have a car that will keep up with the factory and even modded 50 to 80k cars, with a proper driver of course. If I had say 40k to spend I'd find me a diasio if I wanted an all out racer myself. What did you get Denny?

nothing yet. My car will be getting getting a cage put in it etc by the new owner--who is kinda local. He should pick it up this week. I will get to see it on track in full track trim--cant wait for that--that sum bitch will be FAST.

No hurry for me in getting something.
I have entertained the idea of importing a white R3 from Canada

IF i went with a Vette--the Z06 is not as attractive/desirable as I once thought. The Grand Sport manual would be a better fit for me. But I have not decided.
WHat has really caught my eye is the factory five 33 ford roadster built by Rev Tech. Its set up for the road course and it is WICKED

Funny how you look at a very hi end car like a vet and kinda giggle about how your rx8 will run it down on a track. Its possible to find something better but unless your dropping large amounts of money that would be hard. I'm interested to see how the car turns out. In the deal you should have a clause, you get to drive it once a season, lol. May also think about this after the cars done. Talk the new owner into getting with Cam. Sponsership goes a long way. I'd also let him drive it, that old man still sets track records.

lol--i have been invited to drive it when I want. I think I will have to take a valium before I do
Hear that new owner? Possible sponsorship from the man himself? It would be worth a call.
I think I may call him myself and let him know that I am watching my car get taken to the next level........
