Should have a little click when you turn the pully back and forth due to gear lash. but it shouldn't have any up down or side to side

FML... Would it be wise to send it to Pettit to rebuild? Ball park how much do you think a rebuild would cost?

Over filling, internal seal leak. Talk to Cam, he can rebuild it or call kennybell but there going to be expensive.

Smile

Great news, I spoke to Cam and he gave me some good information. 1st I followed the suggestions here. I put the bolt in the SC with out the pulley and there was no play. I spun it and the SC was smooth as silk. Then I put the SC main pulley back in the SC nice and aligned. I tightened the bolt snugged and spun the pulley on the SC. It was smooth as silk with no knocking or hesitation.

This proves the theroy of the belt putting unnecessary pressure on the edge of the main SC pulley causing me all this trouble. Cam believes this as well. So the problem lies within the Tensioner pulley spacer. I'm going to have it grinded down tomorrow, so the belt sits perfectly in the middle. Then BOOM! hopefully my problem is solved.

Pic of the tensioner pulley:

levi---you shouldnt have any up down, side to side movement of the shaft itself--just the little clack sound when you turn it back and forth.

Also check the adapter plate that the bolt threads into. I segest you cut that spacer on a lathe to make sure its perfect. Did you order the seal shaft?

I have wiggle room up/down, side/side , etc when just the bolt is screwed in tightly
Cam Jr said thats ok because it was only able to do that because the pulley/spacer werent on yet and torqued down
havent noticed any problems...
may take it apart again tomorrow just to double check
can't be selling a kit/car that's not 100% structurally sound

Don't forget to hit that pully Allen bolt with an impact a few times to lock it. Keep the belt off when you do it and dont over do it.

Those groves will splinter and trash the seal. They should have been steel.

Yes please. I'll pm you my address when I get home. Tomorrow I'm going to that local machine shop. I'm going to see if they can make me a steel spacer. Idk it's worth a shot.
