I figured this is the best thread to ask this question..the Pettit Racing supercharger kit is no longer available correct?
I sense a "search!" coming...
Thanks.

When i worked at Pettit About 6 months ago we received a shipment of 6 new supercharger castings. Every one had many casting flaws. At the time we were trying to find a new company to make the casts. I have not spoke to Cam in a while and do not have a current update on availability.

I heard the same thing from CAM recently, the R&D going into a new supplier is starting to just be not worth the potential market volume. Starting to sound like they might pull the plug all together. Which would be depressing. At least they still can support the old kits, get one used and send it back to be refurbished and its basically a brand new kit.

exactly Marcos...you will make money off that car for sure
the old castings arent that great either
next time you have the blower off feel the inside of the casting...it's rough and has sharp edges
take a dremel and smooth it out...you'd be surprised at the difference it will make
the air being pulled through that casting doesn't like all those rough edges and sharp turns

What about Moon's kit? Or contracting for build-to-order? Expensive yes, but I would rather not go the turbo route.

Hey guys, I'm parting out a RX8 rally car I bought with a Pettit motor in it. The motor was built and kit installed, I believe, by the guy at Pettit then shipped to go in the car.
The car came to me the way it is so I can't say for sure about which pieces were installed by whom.
Anyway, I think it was installed in 2008 or so and did one and a half rallies and two rallycrosses, it can't have more than 1000 miles on it.
Does a Microtech ecu usually come with the Pettit kit?
I think I'll be selling the motor with supercharger and the ecu all together.
Here's a photo, is it gen 1?
Thanks,
Matthew

carbon his 8 is a race car (rally car, rally cross)
Pettit motor photo
This car is running a MR2 electric power steering pump driving a FD steering rack. It also has a redbull can to catch overflow from the Modena dogbox. I'm sure it looks like a different world from a stock car. You'll see dual brake master cylinders on the right of the photo also, that's to manipulate brake bias front to rear to the aluminum race brakes.
Here's another photo, maybe you can see it better.
The critical part is how well the motor runs. It starts up easily after sitting for a couple months, completely backwards from what I expected from what I'd heard about rotaries!

IMO, that kit has some wear on it. Aluminum is starting to corrode. I also don't understand why someone would invest so much into a fantastic power plant. To in return turn the engine bay into a hack job.
GLWS, the Pettit kit will need to go back to get a full rebuild if it was me.

Not sure if I can post this link on here but I'll try, it's the google doc page of the car and specs for sale.
There are some links to see the car running.
