What are you building the car for? Dyno Queen, 1/4 mile, AutoCross, Daily Driven, what is the purpose behind the car?

Next with the Supra engine, wouldn't the length of the engine (beings it's a straight 6) have cause for him to cut into the fire wall? As far as transmissions go, I would do a 3 speed dogbox. Also if you plan on doing 1,000 hp+ you'll need custom rear axles to hold that power. Otherwise you'll be snapping them like toothpicks. Then if you're going this far into the project you may want to do a completely different rear differential. You'll need a custom driveshaft made, and with all the differences in the drivetrain you'll need a custom made support brace that connects from the rear differential to the transmission. You'll also be looking at custom made motor mounts. These are just a few things that you need to take into account. Just make sure this is exactly what you want, because it's gonna cost a lot of money and if you don't like it afterwards then ya can't get your money back.

might post a pic of your project since it has been quesitoned..

i am thinking ford 9 inch is what he is looking for.

you can hit 1,200 hp but peak power means nothing........................
how much you're goin to make at 10 psi? probably 300 hp.
The turbo lag would kill you runing against 20B's.

My 20B on the first dyno test maked 411 hp at 8 psi and with a "rich" FAR of 10.0, with 93 octane gasoline.

rgonza can make a 1,000 + hp 20B RX8 easy but for what? he don't whant a dyno queen, he whant a car with a good power band that can be transfered to the wheels and can be used daily, a thru street car.
For your information his car already maked 10.2 sec on the 1/4 mile, with 93 octane gasoline.

I don't see them cutting up and welding in a new floor and redesigning the suspension system to fit in a Corvette transaxle. If he is going to use a Supra motor, it would make more sense to me to use a Supra transmission.

The 6spd getrag is definitely stout enough to hold the power, and would retain the 6spd he wanted in the Z06 transmission.

I think you would ba wasting alot of time, effort and money messing with a z06 tranny. Michael and RG are right, just stick with the supra's getrag.

I dont think you or rgonza need to defend yourselves in this thread. You've already established yourselves as legit, and i don't think anyone is really taking this guy too serious.

Bigloundh,

Thank you for your words.......................

Probably this guy never taked a ride on a car with a 20B.
If one day he do it he would change what he think about them.

Our 20B convertion was great and we continue using our cars daily, without any problem,
to give you and example yesterday I maked a 2 hours trip back and forward
all the way with airconditioning, and in every red light everyone whants to run or whant
to see the car spinning the tires.

Manuel

just so you know (like it really matters) I'm not against a swap by any means, I just would have picked a more potent powerplant for it, but hey, at least it'll be different and probably pretty fast too so good luck with it dude. At least we'll probably see more fo this thing then we ever did of the monster 20b acosta built like 2 years ago, 800+ hp but not a single 1/4 mile time or anything to my knowledge....sigh

Good Luck with your project. Thank GOD no one here is funding it. Its your money and I say spend it however you damn well please. There is nothing wrong with your idea of making a half Rx8, half Supra called the Supra 8. Sometimes, it is not about who is the fastest. If the man wants to make a HEMI powered 8, than let him. Good Luck again.

no not yet, the motor is close to 400 pounds, but it going to be single turbo, so it should way from 350 - 400 pounds, i will give you the official weight next week.
