I've owned several gauges in several different cars (Defi, Autometer, Prosport, etc) and the AEM's are by far my favorite so far. Very easy to install, simple, yet appealing. They aren't too bright either, which is a plus, since I hate really eye popping colors while driving at night. The price was also MUCH better than most other gauges out there (atleast for me).

I don't have the wideband or egt hooked up yet. Waiting to weld bungs in the downpipe and manifold next week.

Only thing that bothered me about them was the boost gauge. The plastic clips they use on the harness are very brittle. Mine cracked. I just used a bit of superglue to hold it together until my new harness comes in from AEM.

Cool, thanks for the insight. I really like the analog gauges, they also say they have 7 different colors of backlighting but they don't say what colors they are

Blue, red, orange, green, purple, white, yellow.

They're red out of the box. There is a dial in an access hole on the back. You use a small screwdriver to change the color.

Actually, I'll confirm those colors tomorrow. I have the boxes with instructions at the shop. I know the instructions list them.

Anywho... Got back from the dyno today, just to have another package waiting for me :D I HOPE this works.... we'll see.

We use a company called KSTech to build all of our maf housings. They're normally $100 give or take a few bucks. I got this one at cost, so my price is irrellevant....

Is your shop going to handle the tuning?

Yes. We do all of our own dyno tuning. Lately, we've been doing research on the OMP values and such. It's definitly a little different than the average piston motor. I've been taking some datalogs with the Cobb, just to get an idea on whats going onw under different load cells. I'm not the actual "tuner," so I don't completely understand it all. I'm just a technician. I guess I still have alot of reading to do before we get to the tuning stage in a few short weeks. I'd like to be able to understand whats going on when I'm looking at maps/logs. I've gotten better at it, but I could def. use more training and knowledge. If it blows, it blows. Mistakes happen, and that's how we learn. Atleast if it does blow, it's not a customers car we're dealing with.

Thanks to those who have already boosted their 8's, provided information, and assisted in answering questions here. It's quite daunting gathering all the required info around here, but it can be done.

Stay tuned. I may not have any more pictures until this weekend. Not sure yet. I know I'm still waiting on the intercooler and a few small things.

GAH! Racingbeat just sent my manifold flange out today(ordered last Saturday), which means I won't get it until Thursday, next week. Pushing the fabricator back a few days.

I did get my new intercooler today. I'm not too impressed, but it'll work for now. You get what you pay for, thats for sure. I see a custom ETS core and the new PT6765 comming in my near future, if all goes well with the initial build.

Got a little bit of work done today, But forgot my camera at home.

Intercooler is mounted and battery is 90% done in relocation... Still need to get/hook up the power distribution block and shorten the negative battery wire. I used 1/2 threaded rod, some big *** washers and lock nuts to secure everything. Don't think it's going anywhere.

Today I pulled the factory header off, got the bastard stock injectors out, and put on my oil sandwhich plate for the oil feed line. Gonna send these stock injectors out to get modified and flow tested as a "back up" to the ones I'm going to be using. If they come back large enough, I may toy with the idea of runing a return style system with a larger sumped external pump and experiment with E85 as it's readily available here; and cheap.

Also removed the air pump... but eh, that's a given seeing as how I don't have a cat. Looks like I'm still on track to have the car over to the fabircator on wednesday afternoon/thursday morning for the manifold. The suspense is killing me. Once I get the car back, the engine bay is getting a GOOD cleaning. I never realized how nasty it was until I started tearing stuff apart. :/

and the sohn adaptor and put the resivour were the airpump was
unless it will interfear with your exhaust/charge lines

Good stuff man

If you do go E85 you'll need basically a whole new fuel system, the factory fuel feed line is too small to support any substantial horsepower on E85.

That's the plan down the road... We all know the factory fuel system is garbage.

The single Walbro, and upgraded injectors should get me by for a bit(on pump). I ordered new rails when I got my injectors, so I'm set there when I'm ready to replumb the lines and sump the tank sometime next fall (for E85)...andthen there's the oiling issue. I'm assuming I'll need another motor by then, so we'll see.

We've had stupid good results with E85 on other cars at the shop, mainly Evo's, some Subaru's, and a couple of Miata's. I'll probably run the exact same setup we put on those cars, which is hella expensive. Guess you've gotta pay to play.

Loading the car on a flat bed today for a one mile trip down the road. Finally becoming a reality, and going to the fabricator. One step at a time.
