I was thinking this last night when changing my oil so I filled it very slowly.

How long before your engine is ready for boost 9K ? Are you waiting on tuning or are you still running it in ?

No boost yet and no real tuning yet either. It will be a while, I have been driving it daily but I have only put 250 miles on it so far. The weather has been terrible lately, when it clears up I plan on doing a couple of long road trips to rack up some mileage. I changed the oil last night and will change it again at 500 miles.

How many miles on the new motor? I believe I had 1200 miles on the motor before the madness started

I thought it had 5000 miles on it...

It's some amount that does not require a long breaking procedure...

Okay, lets talk BOV's/Bypass Valves/Diverter Valves/Plumb back Valves. I was pretty much set on the synapse but I went to a local turbo shop today (www.noribilt.com) to get my BOV recirc fitting re welded at angle to clean things up for whatever valve I decided on. Anyway, he uses several brands and says he recommends them all. He said the synapse is great but for our lower power, low boost setup, I would be best going with a Turbosmart Kompact 25mm.

http://www.turbosmartusa.com/product...-universal-fit

or a APR tuned R1

http://www.goapr.com/products/r1.html

Forge also makes one and the reviews seem to be great.

Now obviously with these my Greddy flange would need to be cut off and a 25mm nipple put in it's placed.

I was at lunch and didn't have a ton of time to get into it but basically he said these two are a little different from each other but both are not adjustable, they are set it and forget it and very reliable. He also said the vacuum hose from my BOV to the UIM is too long and that the vacuum hose form the BOV should be as short and direct as possible. I have it routed as short and direct as possible in order to reach the VFAD nipple.

Thoughts? Is a BOV/DV/BPV that is adjustable really better? Both are slightly open at idle.

This response is completely based on my experience/knowledge from S4 research...

APR is a good company, but I've never even heard of them mentioned as suggestion for the S4 DV's. I found out they actually produce one for the 2.7t when I clicked on your link. That doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad product or even that it's worse than competitors... but I assume, at least, that it means the community sees other options as better.

Forge is the most recommended DV option I've seen for the S4, aside from the OEM bosch upgrade. The OEM upgrade is cheap and works without any known issues... BUT... when someone mentions spending more to get a better DV, that is the option I see the most. I've never heard any complaints about it and I've seen a lot good reviews of their products. It's supposed to be louder than the OEM options, though I'm not sure how that compares to the options you're looking at. Based on what I've seen, it definitely seems like you can't go wrong with them.

Can't say I've seen much of anything on turbosmart. That's most likely just the result of popular brands/products for different cars. I'm sure they're a good option too.

I'm sure they're all good. APR definitely makes some great products that are very high quality. I've heard a lot of great things about the forge DV's. Even if I haven't heard of turbosmart, noribilt seems to have a lot of good experience and I'd expect it's a good product if they recommend it. Like I said, this is all secondhand information... but I would probably go with forge based on what I've seen.

Cam at Pettit racing sells one that we have been using trouble free for a few years. Give him a call--may save you some money?
I may be **** but I feel they need cleaning about once a year.
Whichever one you get--just make sure there is no leakage ( which is more common than some may believe) , do not share its vacuum line with anything else, be sure to secure the vacuum line to it with a plastic tie, and the higher quality ones will have an O ring in it to help seal it.

Where would I find more vacuum sources? I have the BOV, boost gauge, and boost controller all running from the vfad. I assume this is bad.

I would personally tap a block assembly to the UIM and feed all of my basic connections from there

Thanks, I was going to text you and ask you if you heard anything on the Audi boards about APR.

Yeah in reading the instructions of the DV's most recommend cleaning them every 6 months. Which on does Cam sell?

Yes that is bad, in reading the instruction PDF's of these two, both say to not share the same vacuum nipple.
