Holy ****, studs are $7.15 each and the nuts are $4.25 each. I guess they are made of 24k Gold.

I apologize...I must have glossed over the exhaust manifold and thought I read intake manifold.

Please disregard my previous statement as that is for the lower intake manifold.

for the exhaust manifold just use some bolts--you dont have to have studs. They go into the irons not housings so the threads are strong and I am SURE you will TQ easily lol........
Builders used to complain because i removed all the studs from my short blocks-hehehe

Studs are always better you get full depth into the iron...and dont need to worry that the bolt length is perfect

How's the AC working? All good?
Apparently I didn't get enough sleep last night. I checked your post and didn't see shady and it's not like there was a long list to check lol. I think I was thinking you had said houstonrx8er or something. Maybe we'll be lucky and 04rx8tx will show up! He seems to know what he's doing.

That repellent definitely seems like a good idea. Thursday and Friday have highs at about 70 and lows in the 50's, so I'd hope that might affect them somehow. Not sure how cold it has to be to really get rid of them though. Either way, the weather this weekend should be pretty nice for getting work done.

AC seems to work fine. I only used it for about 5-10 minutes though. The weather isn't too bad now, so I don't really need it, though my car was warm after it sat in the school parking lot for a couple hours so I used it to cool it off a bit. I'm slightly paranoid that the engine vibration from the misfire (or whatever the problem is) might have caused the bolts to back out when the AC was engaged, though I'd hope that problem wouldn't come back if the shop properly bolted it down again. I checked twice last night, and that fan isn't kicking on. I guess we should have tested that before getting it in. Since I don't really need the AC at this point, I'll just take a look into that whenever I have a chance.

Ok, I went everywhere tonight looking for M10 x 1.50 x 40MM double ended exhaust manifold studs. I did not think it was going to be such a trek. Nothing at Fastenal, NAPA, Autozone, O'Reilly's, or Advance Auto Parts (in person anywhere).

So I give up and come home and start searching on the net and what do I find? Freaking Advance has them on their website, a pack of ten exhaust manifold studs in the exact size I need for $27.99. So I called the store I went to with the part number from the site and the dumbass looks it up and says, "oh yeah, we have a pack in our store in the back". I almost cursed him but I'll wait until I have them in my hand

Good to know I might replace mine when I slap the turbo on. Just need to pick up a stud extractor!

Think I have a set laying around, however I highly recommend replacing the nuts everytime the manifold is removed.

Yeah the nuts actually looked warped. I couldn't find high strength nuts so I will probably have them special ordered at Fastenal rather than pay $4.50 each at the dealer. It depends how fast they can get them though.

Yep it was the nuts that made me replace the studs with bolts--need replacing a lot--they get loose. Bolts are ok here--its an exhaust header not a frigging cylinder head Low Tq etc.
If the engine is still in the car then studs sure make mounting the header more easy

Thanks, the parts guys at my local dealer are retarded. With the part numbers NGO gave me they were able to figure it out.

The dealer cannot get the bolts by Friday but I found M10 x 1.50 Class 8 Flange nuts at Fastenal that should do the trick and they were $5.50 for a bag of 25.

Now the question is to try and remove the two studs that were left in my new motor or just leave them.

I am going to try but if they don't come out easy then I'm leaving them I don't want to break one. the motor is a 2008 though so they should not be too stuck (famous last words).

Coat them with PB blaster let it sit overnight and get a stud extractor from sears.

I am going to try the double nut solution just to see if it will come out without drama. But I will spray it with PB.

They've come out easily by the double nut-method on all 3 motors I've had tbh.
