Oh and back to the A/C display problem..

I just disconnected/reconnected everything and gave the cables some more slack in case it was a pinching issue. Everything is back to normal.. except I have to reprogram my favorites in the headunit.

I think it is a combination of something that causes the unit to malfunction and glitch up. I am communicating with a metra engineer so I'll let you guys know.

can we get a poll of Bose users? Is anyone else who has the Bose system having problems with sound? Was it easy to hook up the Bose wire harness, etc. for people who kept the Bose speakers (like I plan to).

I see you also have the 8120. Do you find the NAV and BLUETOOTH volume high? Do you have the BOSE system?

Thanks!

It was simple to wire. I just am not sure I did it right

The harness plugs right in just like you do not have the bose system and does all of the integration inside the axxess piece so you do not have to worry about it.

It's cool to have this kit, but based on the pictures, it seems like getting the flat black bezel might be a better idea. The "glossy" surface is a far cry from the piano black finish

My question is about the volume. I connected the speakers up per the metra directions and the volume is very loud for the NAV and BLUETOOTH. The system volume is also very loud even at the lowest volume settings. I know that the BOSE system has an amp, but the Metra kit didn't say to connect the pre-amp outs to the speakers. The pre-amp outs are RCA. Was I suppose to cut the RCA terminals and use those instead of the speakers outs? Is there a different way to do reduce the volume? Can I just cut the power to the amp? I did connect the Amp remote power wire to the new HU.

Thanks!
Chris
the best way that i can think of doing it would be to cut off some rca heads and plug them into your pre-outs so that it will drop the output voltage down to a lower level.

i still have my bose speakers installed in the back of my car and i was able to just lower the level to a reasonable volume by going into the setup menu and setting the rear's to like -6db. I have my 3 way components up front on an amp and my max volume is set at like 23 on a 35 scale on the ddx812.

Nope no Bose here, the nav and bluetooth volume is normal. I believe you can adjust the volume for both.

Do you happen to know where the volume settings for the Bluetooth and the Nav are?

Thanks!

For bluetooth, I know you can change the volume while talking with someone.. Just push volume up or down. I don't know a better way.

For nav, you go to the third page of AV Interface setup screen. Refer to page 73 of the manual.

As far as the finish goes, if I ever get time I'll sand it down and repaint it. But I really have no time for that right now. It will be only like $20 max for all the paint.

wow ... the more I see the Kenwood DNX8120 ... the more I want to trash my piece of **** AVIC F-90bt away ...

the faceplate ... hmm ... I guess the only good thing about Corksports/Kennatech kit is that the piano black finish is really piano black finish ... but the double DIN hole is ... *sweat*

nice setup man

of course, if i REALLY REALLY WANT THE KIT NOW i can always just get the flat black kit (ie unpainted) and take it to a local shop and have them do a piano black paint job lol

The flat black is actually textured.. You might be better off starting with the glossy just because the surface is smoother.

nycgps: yeah man.. you should.. it's niiiiceee

A little off topic, but I have been considering the Kenwood DDX712, and DDX812, just wondering if you can change the bottom LED strips color?? I tried looking through the manuals but I couldn't find it.

Not that I know of, no. I was kinda saddened by this too, but all the pros outweighed the cons.

There is a hidden feature where you can change the boot-up image.

Ouch. Finish does look pretty rough on that one. But nice choice on headunits. I know you'll love it. nycgps, you're not the only hater on the F-series.
