Rollerbldes on the single din I did not use the side plates metra sent, instead I used the little cage type thing that came with the deck to lock it in place if I didn't use that I could of used side plates, its either one or the other.

Not sure for double din but I would imagine if a double din deck also came with a cage type thing id imagine it would be the same way, either use the cage to lock the deck in or use the side plates to lock it, never bought a dd deck so don't know if they come with a cage type thing or not. Hope that's any help

OK cool thanks for the response man.

I'm 90% sure that the DDIN side plates screw behind the same screws as the a/c vents. I can't imagine where else they would screw into.

Also if you do the steering wheel adapter you have to add a pin to pin 10 and ground it just an FYI dont know if you read about that earlier when flyboy was having trouble with his, thats how i did mine, i used a pin from the blue/pink wire that came with the kit for the nav, because i just use the stock nav not the aftermarket nav, so yeah make sure if you do intend to use the blue/pink wire for nav you have a pin from a different adapter to add to pin 10 for you to ground

derekarmy...thanks for the pict. Looks to be a pretty bad match to the dash in the pict. How would you say the match is in person?

I just installed mine. Yes the double-din does fasten onto the same screws as a/c vent. Everything went pretty well.. except it was pretty tight with the wiring. I will post pics later.

Oh man.. the DNX8120 sounds SO much better than the stock headunit. Especially with my Type R speakers.

I remember someone here posting before about the A/C LED issue where the LEDs don't change but everything works fine.

I'm getting that problem where I can change everything regarding to A/C fine.. but the LEDs and position display on top does not update. I wonder if this is connection issue or a glitch with the AXXESS module.

i wonder that my self, i get the same thing i just go in unplug everything and re plug goes away for a bit but still happens, i dont know if its just the wiring in the back is too tight and something is getting pinched, or something is getting unpluged, or if it is a glitch, im starting to think more and more that its a glitch or something wrong with the box they sent =(

like this morning, i went in unpluged everything re plugged the display and a/c led's worked fine, i left work, the led's still worked but the display was waked again, i was just like wtf, getting kinda old already to unplug and re plug and put back together.

Hmm.. I wonder if they can come up with a fix. Meanwhile I wonder if there's any way to reset the unit remotely. I forgot if the AXXESS module had only switched 12V or battery 12V. If it has a constant 12V for memory.. Then if we set a switch for that line, we could reset the unit whenever it acts up. Of course this is really not the preferred way of dealing with this.

yeah i wouldn't want to do it that way lol, oh it has memory? me cutting the power to the unit with a toggle wouldn't affect it would it? i thought maybe, but with others having the issue as well i wouldn't think so, i wonder if canary or someone else who has connections to metra can get a hold of them and relay this problem to them. does the axxess box even have a reset button on it? i cant remember

No I don't remember a reset button. But yeah I just sent an e-mail to metra regarding this issue. We'll have to see what they say.

Isn't this unit supposed to be USB updateable? If so we could just update it.

uh oh, time to call them to task on that "usb updatable" feature. I was pretty skeptical of that one from the very start. this should be interesting.

You know it's funny you say this. It states on their website it is USB updatable but not on the box. From what I've seen though, you need a special usb cable that connects to the hazard light port.

Sounds similar to the issues we had with the Axxess iPod adapter for the 8. Ended up being a hardware issue. The guys were super cool about it though and swapped it out even though the company I bought it from were being douchebags about it.

like i said, i had the same problem with the led's not turning on and it was not that everything was not plugged into the box, it was because the harness that plugs into the board for temperature control that was pulled out part of the way. i plugged it back in and it worked fine.

i do get the glitches on the display sometimes when i turn my car on but when i shut it off and turn it back on, it works fine.

another problem that i noticed this weekend though is that my amb temp is stuck at one temp and does not adjust, so i will more than likely take it apart today and see if everything is good.

I just installed a DNX8120 in my 8. Sound and everything is much better than the stock HU that was in it. I have the BOSE system in my 8.

My question is about the volume. I connected the speakers up per the metra directions and the volume is very loud for the NAV and BLUETOOTH. The system volume is also very loud even at the lowest volume settings. I know that the BOSE system has an amp, but the Metra kit didn't say to connect the pre-amp outs to the speakers. The pre-amp outs are RCA. Was I suppose to cut the RCA terminals and use those instead of the speakers outs? Is there a different way to do reduce the volume? Can I just cut the power to the amp? I did connect the Amp remote power wire to the new HU.

Thanks!
Chris
