Tell me about it. It looked like doctors running around a patient that just flatlined when that happened. Definitely relieved when the car still started.

This is what can be monitored on the AP that I have (note this may not be what's on the final version):

Accel Pedal Pos
Vehicle Speed
Rel Throttle Pos
Ign Tim. Trailing Coil
Ign Tim. Leading Coil
Short Term FT1
Long Term FT1
RPM
Metering Oil Pump Position
Mass Airflow
Engine Load
Intake Temp
Fuel Pulse Width
AFR
Coolant Temp
Battery Voltage

You can also check your fuel economy, both instant and average. Do performance numbers, although those are limited to 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.

As far as I know, only available through the accessport itself.

There are a LOT of differences between the Subie version and the RX-8 version.
Wish I could show you.
They've been adding features this week. There are some new maps in the newest version I got yesterday. I'm still waiting on some of the features I asked for and some of the changes I wanted.
There are also more differences between the '04 the '05 and the '06/'07 than I would have thought.
Mazda completely reworked the fueling.
there was also an actual physical hardware change in the PCM part of which was added memory

Any ideas what the differences are between your map huzer and RCW's map on cobbforums.com? He said that it's the stage 1 map provided by COBB.... Not sure if any additional tuning was done though.

I'm not sure if Cobb did some tweaking between his tuning, and when my shop received the map from them, which was Tuesday. My map shows on the AP as the Stage 1 reflash. The run was done in 4th gear. Dyno Dynamics dynos produce lower numbers than other dynos, as well

And, here are some pics from today...nothing exciting. Since the AP has been officially released, I guess it's ok to post the charts. Sorry for the paper charts, I haven't been emailed the charts yet.

There are quite a few, but not anything that changes the results.
It just means I have to have 6 versions of every tune I do for a 6-port RX-8. (Federal and Cali versions of '04, '05 and '06/'07.)

Same price as Cobb - $695. Shipping is $15 to anywhere in the US.
Send a request to my e-mail.

yay. And more to come.

Make sure the 2004's are the priority. There's a lot more of them around, and not hindered by silly things such as warranty's as much.

That could be why you have a lower number than you might have wanted. A modified car like mine should show better gains for NA, but only time will tell. I will have every NA mod there is short of a header.

Well, since that is what I have the easiest access to, the '04 is where I will always start.
The '05 isn't that different. Its the '06/'07 that has the biggest changes.

10 HP on a completely stock car isn't bad. I think there is probably still some power to be had, though.
However, pulling the CAT is going to be the big gainer for the N/A cars..

Now that curve looks more like what I expected. The other dyno chart on cobbforums seems almost too good to be true.. Maybe it's possible though I dont see how they can pick up horsepower in the low to mid range without changing the afr more than 5 % below 3,000. It even picks up 15 - 20 mid range hp at 5300 rpm when the afr lines cross.. This guy had to of had a completely different car to begin with in order to achieve those type of numbers...

I can see those types of gains in the upper band because his afr is below 11 at times, but what about mid and low?

Anyone else notice that or am I off?

Im glad to hear you say that. While 10 HP is nice, I was actually expecting to see 15-18 HP.

20 or more is easily possible.
However, maintaining the CAT temperatures in a range that won't destroy it dictates richer than optimal A/F.

Do these maps only address fuel or is timing tweaked as well? It would be nice to have a 93/94 octane map.

FI guys should be starting soon--thats what i want to see.

Yes but I was wondering if timing has been bumped up or if for now only fuel has been tweaked.

Maybe everybody who isn't in California would like to take advantage of higher octane.

Quick notes from the shop on my dyno run:

Those numbers were using a full standard SAE CF of 1.26 today. A stock wrx on our standard half CF for turbo cars makes about 155whp and a stock sti makes 215whp.

And for those that don't know, Co Springs is an altitude of 6000 ft, which is where the runs were actually done.

those numbers pretty much match what I got on a dyno dynamics here in nz .
the gains are also consistent with piggybacks and RB flash so I think everyone can be very confident in those results .
I got a higher gain (another 10hp or so) by pulling about 5 deg timing from about 6000 onwards .

I don't understand why anyone would expect otherwise. Different tool, same result. All this does is eliminate the piggybacks and have the PCM do things correctly without a second system messing with the signals and fighting the PCM. There is no magic. However the PCM in the RX-8 is pretty slick to begin with and being able to make use of that is great.
