Thanks nyc and shady. I will report back after this weekend about how it all went. I hope to get a video because I have a strange feeling this is going to cover the neighborhood.

well I did my decarb using seafoam this past weekend. EASY to do. I got a little bit of smoke, not nearly as much as I expected but enough to get a sense that it worked well. Thanks for the diy!

Question

I ran a 1/2 can of zoom zoom thru the engine and let it sit overnight Friday. It fired right up in the morning. Is there any detrimental reason to not let it sit overnight? It seemed to work better the longer it was in the engine.

To date, I have run 2 cans of Zoom Zoom thru the LIM, 2 cans of BG44K thru the gas tank, 1 quart of LC FP+ in 4oz doses thru the gas tank, and 1 quart of LC LC20 in 2oz doses thru the oil.

The solution works on semi-hot surface. So I dont think it works that well when everything turns cold.

The engine was hot when I added it at least.

I know, but dont expect wonders after its cold.

At least it wont remove much carbon when cold (unless you rub it with a tooth brush or something )

SSV Gasket: N3H4-20-155A

Whats the ballpark price on the parts? I just threw the dreaded P2070 yesterday, and again this morning.

No,

I would recommend you first do coils, plugs and wires.

N3H5-20-160F - about 240
N3H4-20-155A - About 6
9979-60-640 - 2 bucks.
0000-77-A86 - like 21 bucks.

I would get the other 2 coils and wires. then do the engine clean.

If your engine has carbon the zoom zoom will be absorbed into it and dry out if you let it sit too long. Once it dries out its semi-useless, some carbon may be removed but not as much if you simply let it sit an hour. After an hour the zoom zoom is absorbed and turns the carbon into a soggy goo sort of consistency, once it sits too long the goo re-hardens.

As for your P2070 code, theres a couple good topics on it, done at the dealer its somewhat pricey, definitely could DIY if youre relatively good with a wrench and such.

kevin.

Thanks - I figured that to be the case. The engine has more life at least in my attempts.

hey nycgps
I just recently bought my Mazda Rx8 Silver 04
My friend recommended that I buy this cleaner, and I ve ordered it and its on its way
There is one question I have..
There is a picture where you point out the two nipples, which is where you stick the tubes, and in your picture and in my friends car the nipples are closed. but in my 04 the nipples arent close and they have small hoses connecting to them which lead to the oil.. so is it still possible for me to use the cleaner?

^Yes, you have the upgraded oil filler neck on your car (which came standard in the '06 and up I believe).
Just disconnect one hose at a time when performing the engine cleaning procedure.

not much smoke?

just seaformed my 8 through vacum tube today, not much smoke came out
I guess my engine wasn't that dirty after all
So, should I still add some seaform to my gas tank?
How do you add it into the gas tank btw?

Unplug them, you dont need those for this DIY.

those tubes are there to burn the oil fumes coming outa your oil pan.

after you spray the stuff in, Just put it back the way it was
