Did the mod and like the results. Idle seems slightly better after removing one screen and the sound is quite nice. Does it matter which screen is taken out? I removed the one at the front of the intake horn nd left the one closest to the MAF sensor. Does leaving the one at the mouth of the horn and removing the other make a difference?

People generally remove the one closest to the air filter, leaving the one closest to the MAF to do it's intended purpose, straighten the airflow as it passes over the MAF. So you're right on!

When we did mine, we took the entire horn out, leaving the screen nearest the MAF.

Thats interesting, do you have any idle fluctuation/vibrations?

I don't recall the official purpose of the horn, but I would think without an air horn of some sort that you would have a lot of air "bouncing around in there" rather than being directed through the intake tract?

The air horn improves flow in to the intake pipe from the airbox plenum. Taking it out will increase back pressure and reduce power.

No problems taking the horn out, but perhaps I will try putting it back in to see if there is a difference. I take it you put it back in but remove the screen from the front of the horn?

I recommend leaving the horn in but removing the first screen. The horn is to redirect air into the intake pipe.

yes, you should definitly put the horn back on, but you should take out the screen closest to the filter, but leave the one closest to the MAF.

well racing beat says for every screen that is taken out, there is a 1-2 hp increase. so chances are, your butt dyno wont even feel it. the acceleration might be smoother though
