You need SUPER. It will transcode damn near any video format into almost any other video format. I assume your camera made a .3GP file?

Did i mention it's totally free?

just did it, removed 1 screen and drove it around a little. There is a change in sound, but nothing to noticable, one thing i did notice is that it responds better. I didnt notice any idle problems.
AWESOME DIY!

Took out 1 of the screens and drove it around, i guess it is a little louder which is exactly what im looking for. Thanks very much to the OP for the great DIY
K&N for $50 is a great alternative to intake

The panels might look as if they are "in the way", and "just for noise damping", but that doesn't necessarily make it so. It's just as likely (more likely, imho) that they are there to reduce turbulence and encourage laminar flow. That is, to help airflow, not impede it. Fluid dynamics is not always intuitive. In any case, the proof is in the results. Absent any dyno tests or airflow/pressure measurements it's all guessing. "Feels faster" is probably just wishful thinking unless you're talking about a 10HP increase or better and I haven't seen anyone claim that kind of improvement.
Some people might like it if it's noisier, and that's fine if that's what you like. But consider that the noise is the result of turbulence and turbulence impedes airflow.

yup, me and him had a little conversation about it, and how team flamed him for it. its all good though, you do deserve the credit for making the DIY and making it easier for people to find it.

I just removed the 2 walls from my intake yesterday and I'm glad that I found this thread. Here are my observations:
1. Unnoticeable change in sound when idle. (which is good!)
2. Intake suction sound can be heard particularly during light throttle operation with windows open or closed.
3. Low RPM range noticeably smoother esp. < 2K range
- I think this is the best benefit. Clutch engagement when moving off just got MUCH more pleasant
4. Actually whole RPM range to rev limiter felt smoother (feeling is similar to getting a fresh tank of gas)
5. With WOT operation, sound is louder but still sounds refined (unlike most CAI set-ups)
6. I'm pretty sure the idle has much less vibrations w/ or w/o AC.
My car's a '07 with 2300 mi. now and I've been religious in keeping my engine/car in the best shape possible. I have also been pre-mixing with Lucas UCL but this mod made it run much smoother. Although I haven't tested this mod that long, I would recommend it to anyone that doesn't mind the more apparent suction noise (or a bit more engine sound intrusion in the cabin) I mentioned. Also it's totally reversible, easy to do, and free. Ren. SE3P, chet, and CRH thanks for the info.

Not the best quality, but you can hear the suction at low RPMs. It's not the same as having a true aftermarket intake, but hey it's free.

I did mine last night, took the walls and first screen with pipe. I do have a magnaflow exhaust so it was hard to tell the difference in engine sound but performance wise i did feel it respond a lil better...thankz guyz

if you don't have an aftermarket exhaust on your car you wont really see a difference at all. Some people listen very closely and others think there is no difference at all. Since i did this last week, i can't notice the walls have even been taken out so it sounds like i did nothing to it what so ever

I'll snap his neck.
alnielsen did the same exact procedure for me today. Didn't really notice a difference in sound. The car felt a little more responsive. However, the gross HP figure on my scangauge read 281 at one point. Highest I've seen before now is 254.

Not sure how much was due to the intake mods, air temp, humidity, etc. Just an observation I made. Also keep in mind it is measuring gross horse power. The difference in brake horse power would be less.

I did it, and noticed just about nothing. MAYBE a touch of improvement at low end, but if that IS true, then I think I also lost a touch on the top end. I'm talking levels that are just about inperceptable for either one. I think I'd feel more of a difference between a full tank of gas and half (weight).
No difference in sound.
I'll probably just go ahead and go back to stock. I can't imagine this making more than +/- 1-2% difference at all, but hey, for a 5 minute expirement, it was worth a shot.
