^^^ million dollar question.
I would imagine that the IB interference was at the request of Mazsport??

Either way, hopefully they can help sort this out.

When you are a paying vendor, you tend to have few more perks than just normal Joe the 8 owner who got scammed out of $38,000

I'm not sure how IB is going to handle this situation but I hope it gets solved quickly and not wasting more of Stick time... I know he's a busy man!

^True, but maybe they should consider that without all of us "Average Joe" 8 owners they wouldn't have a single paying vendor

Before the thread was locked a few people from other forums stated they were linked the thread. Looks like the word is spreading.

Hey, maybe this thread will get closed next..

The way I see it, there are 2 possible outcomes.

1) They're protecting the vendor that pays to advertise on their site, in which case, they probably will close this thread next.

2) They're working on getting this issue resolved.

If it's option 1, then it's time for us to start thinking about going to the darkside, and staying there.

If it's option 2, then Internet Brands is an outstanding company and they deserve our support.

^^ you summed it all up right there, couldnt have said it better myself.

if you look back i had mentioned IB possibly getting involved at some point, only i didnt expect it to be until it got legal... which also seriously concerns me about the reasoning they stepped in....

Option 1: Where is the Darkside

Option 2: I don't think IB can do much unless they are willing to fund Stick and his lawyer fee. Second, closing thread really don't do much good as all it will do is bump the thread back to no man's land... This was one of the thing I didn't like about how 7club operated when i was scammed.. my issues get pushed back to far back pages and eventually people forgot and similar issues came about.

I know this might sound like I'm pushing my site a bit.. but one of the reason we created rotarycarclub.com is to introduce itrade function. Where new customers can see if vendor has positive history or negative. This also makes the vendors to work harder to keep good standing and bigger issues could be avoided... before I started the other forum, that was one thing I wanted to fix in rotary community..

Bottomline, Stick situation is a horrible situation and I hope we all "stick" together to avoid happening again in the future.. Best is to use Mazsport as an example and make sure other vendors realize what could be done when all of us "stick" together

This seriously needs to stop. The thread is still there, isn't it? IB closed the thread, yes- but they are also proactively trying to find out what happened from BOTH parties. If you want to leave, then leave. But everyone stop pushing other sites on here, and STOP complaining about a closed thread that very well may be reopened. There is nothing any of us can do about it till IB makes their decision.

Why should we? There is no rule against that, in addition it serves two purposes. The first being to warn people of possible issues with a merchant. The other being promoting the RX-8 club. It's a win win situation.

I agree with devils post. I for one did not know this site existed, but now I will be a loyal member. All due to the acts of a longtime member of this site that spread the word to other sites of this possible issue with a vendor. It showed me that the people on this site can be trusted and are here to help fellow 8 owners. Once again thank you to the RX-8 club members.

Internet Brands owns rx8club.com, and as in the case of the "closed" thread, they also PWN rx8club.com.

They bought the site and several others about a year ago.
They are the group that gets the money from vendors for advertising on this site.
There use to be an annoucement about them aquiring the site, but I can't find it now.

I think the problem is they closed the discussion about the issue.
The thread is closed, so we can't talk about it. If we go to the lounge to discuss it, it will
get deleted and we'll get a warning/banned for doing it.

So, w/o deleting it, they've affectively stopped us from discussing a possible huge issue with a big vendor on this site.
Plus, now we're all left in the dark as to what they are trying to do.
Are they trying to help them work it out, or are they just protecting "their" paying members.

My apology if my last post sounded like I was pushing my forum, www.RotaryCarClub.com... I was merely pointing out the ways to avoid situation like this in the future. That was my main goal more than to push sites. If I was more concerned about competition, I wouldn't of came on here nor allow linking from the other site to here. Hope you understand...

Again, my apology if my intention wasn't clear....

While IB is deciding on what to do, they have effectively made a decision - which is to prevent us from discussing the topic.

If you want to make the case to keep the thread open, it looks like you'll have to take it up with Adrian directly. Send him a PM and make your case in a civil manor. As it stands he doesn't appear to understand the situation so my bet is that everything gets locked and stays locked.

I send a PM, but i do not know if it will matter.

A little birdy has confirmed my suspicions regarding WHY Internet Brands got involved and locked the thread. Apparently Scott complained to IB that Stick still owed him money.... (IB please feel free to refute the claim if incorrect)

Now, that part isnt as important as what IB does next(based on the assumption this is true)

No, that's not why they closed it. They are not used to moderating forums, since that is not what they do. I don't think they realized the crap it would start(or continue, as the case may be). They are in the middle of trying to sort out what is going on- that is all. I expressed my concern to them that it needs to stay open when I first contacted them, regardless of who's in the right, because we are not in the habit of censoring people's opinions as long as they follow forum rules, in spite of what several people here think. Mysql is right- send them a PM expressing your concern, POLITELY, if you want to discuss it anymore.

Thanks Elara for easing my mind a bit, i truly hope you are right as the other would be very sad to see. I did send a PM expressing my concerns and noting the effects, on all parties, of different courses of action.

I also wanted to make sure that i wasnt misinterpreted in previous comments... the comments about why i was told IB got involved, werent meant to insinuate anything more than Scott called them, so they are checking into it. There was no intended allusion to IB's position thus far.

I've talked with IB today.

basically, Scott told Adrian to shut my thread down. I was told by Adrian that I should talk to Scott on the phone. Adrian apparently worked at extreme rotaries in Australia, so i hope that when he actually looks into the issue, he'll understand what had actually happened.

i think someone just needs to make him understand that keeping such thread open (not just mine) would be for his company's best interest. it turns out he didn't even read my thread when I talked with him. guess he just came then shut it down not fully knowing what's going on.

we'll talk again on monday, and i'll update on my thread.

sorry to hijack. back to the issue.

Maybe the witchhunt should slow down until everyone finally knows what really is going on.

I'm the first to point the finger at blatant rip off artists...but all I have seen here is a select few that have axes to grind by there own admission....and a few others whose intents could be called suspect by past affiliations on this forum

Maybe a cooling off period isn't such a bad thing...and maybe a third party like Adrian can be a intermediary in this arena
