I'm just glad to see a larger engine. More HP is a good thing and so I'm going to take a stab at it and say ,,,, 300 HP. Would be nice.
Now all the turbo guru's and Super Charger makers will have something to look forward to.
Making a new system.

There shouldn't need to be a redline change. The current redline is dictated more by the tranny's capability, not the engine, which could safely rev to 14000 before destroying itself (Whether it could be tuned to produce power at those rpms is another question that I can't answer). A larger diameter may reduce the rpm's that the engine can handle, but probably not to below 9000, or even 10,000. The larger diameter will also increase the size of the side ports, so there should be enough air flow to take advantage of the increased displacement, and further delay the exhaust port opening to allow for more torque.

As for trading in my 8 for this...I'm gonna say probably not any time soon. I'll have fun with this thing (since it's paid off), let you guys be the guinea pigs, and see what the real HP #'s are.

IF the new engine is direct injected, and that's only speculation, how quickly turbo or supercharger kits come out won't be based on who can physically fabricate one but rather in who can figure out how to control fuel. Direct injection has very different requirements than indirect injection. It's duty cycles are totally different and very precisely timed. Fuel pressures are also much higher. There is not a single aftermarket ecu out there that I know of that can control this yet. It may come down to waiting for an ecu crack. Has the aftermarket already cracked the MS6 ecu and found a way to retune it? If so, there's hope.

I thought there were already MS3 solutions?

The domestic market, is already retuning the direct injected 2.0 liter turbo from GM.

I'd like to see dealer offered tuning services and an option to open up your ECU. You void your engine warranty but at least you can have it tuned directly without all the security cracking BS.

I'd like to dispell the rpm theory. These will not turn safely beyond 11k without damage. That is all.

Paul.

In the 1st gens, the 13B was fuel injected but the 12A was carburated. The intake setup had alot to do with it too.
well, yeah. That's why I said the last NA 13B was at 160hp and the Renesis has 230. Same size, but different ports and other modifications made more power. Now imagine that with an increased size and I'm sure more mods would make considerably even more power.

Once you take an engine over 7000 rpm, bearing stresses go up at a very high rate. Above 10,000 is downright scary. I personally feel the new engine should have a slightly lower redline for reliability reasons. It would also allow for more average power tuning. The lower your redline, the wider your powerband. A lower redline would mean less peak horsepower of course which means that power wouldn't scale up directly with size. A 7500 rpm redline with an 8300 rpm or so fuel cutoff would be nice. I'm just speculating of course as there is no evidence to suggest they will lower the redline. Traditionally a longer stroke engine has less of a redline than a shorter stroke engine does and the new rotary is being called the long stroke. just something to think about. This is why I don't see it getting more than about 270 hp at the flywheel. I'd love to see more of course but will be happy to see any new engine at all. As long as it isn't hydrogen powered and wussie!

DI, AL side housings, 1.6l displacement, this is great!!

I think this engine will come close to the 300 hp mark

imagine that thing in the Kabura

They are going to show a cutaway of the engine at tokyo, thats going to be intreting
