Ya, that does make sense

The new engine has totally different dimensions. The rotors are not the same width or the same height.

What if they use the same height and width of the rotor and change the eccentricity and chamber size/shape?

I'm sure thats just how the math worked out on the size that was chosen for the new pieces before measurable displacement was even considered.

No one has a release date. It hasn't even been officially announced yet, unfortunately. We have to wait for tokyo auto show to get an idea. All we know is that it's coming, which is better than "it's not coming"

I don't see how that is possible. You're totally changing the math/design on the epitrochoid. Take a picture of the rotor, you won't see any space left to make dishes close to the apexes.

Could not agree more...

Next time I see the head technician/mechanic at Australian Motors Mazda, I will tell him so!...Bloody idiot

I wonder if we will see the RENNY 2 used in the new RX-8 when production commences in April 2008....

Info from the head technician at Mazda Japan > Mazda Australia.

We won't see the long stroke for at least a few years. All we'll see from the RX-8 is a face lift this winter.

I'm not opposed to speculation but where are we getting the 1.55l displacement from again? Also we must remember that so far none of us knows whether Mazda is even displaying a sports car at the show or that it will have a new version rotary.

Don't get me wrong; I'm one of the main spreaders of these type rumors and am impatiently awaiting what could happen in October.

Anyhow, enough negativity. Let the speculation continue.

The info comes from very high sources during Sevenstock. It is not in print but that doesn't make the info any less credible. They are displaying a sports car next month unless of course they change their plans between now and then.

Where were you?

I suppose it's possible they were lying to trick us. We can only wait a month to see.

Will the new 16C or whatever it is to be named resemble the old 15A of the early-mid 70's, that didn't make it into production? Or is it slightly larger?

We have no details other than it's existence.

What will really suck is if it turns out they're just stringing us along. You never know what kind of little information they'll send out just to test how long a rumor can spread. Again, all we can do is wait till Tokyo to be sure.

I only know the 'small people' .

It's not like they would allow me to enter the R&D building and chat or anything.

The 12A engine had a displacement of 1146cc. I suppose that they rounded up to make it sound larger. The 13B is 1308 cc. A engine of about 1550 cc they will probably round this up and call it a 16C.

horrible innacurate crap. besides that is a bad cartoony chop to begin with, its really badly scaled to the original picture. you could fit 50 of that chick into teh car if the scale was accurate- which it obviously isnt since the car is a 2 or 2+2 seater. dont believe this picture folks. move along. nothing to see here.
