Had my car in the shop for a CEL issue saying something with my cat converter. Figured it might just be something small as the car drives fine. I also asked them to do the flash. No problems. They did it and said that the flash also does something with some of the CEL detection, but I see nothing about that. I wonder if there was a previous recall and it wasnt done and they did that and fixed it or if they were just bsing me about the cat error. He said it is fine now, so I guess no worries. Cant wait to pick it up and see if it drives better after the flash.

Had the new flash done this morning, haven't notice any real changes, the car has been perfect since the start, but it does seem to be spot on for the idle a little more.

Well just thought I would throw my experience in as well. Picked it up and the car is WAY smoother at idle and low RPM. No vibration at all. I think it has a little more pick up as well in low RPM. Not 100% sure. But much smoother and better idle. VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER

I took my car in today for the MSP16 reflash. Everything turned out OK. No questions asked. Covered under warranty. It took about 45 min or so.

What I am noticing now after the flash...is that I do not smell the burning oil on startup anymore. Anybody experiencing this?

Got the reflash today. I've 10,700 miles on an 07. Before the flash I had noticed that the idle would occasionally dip below 1k and sort of bounce around roughly. This seems to be completely resolved. The idle now rests comfortably just below 1k.

Additionally, I think there's some extra pull on shifting gears. It seems to yank me a bit more, I guess. Torque? Trim reset? i dunno. But there's also some smoother acceleration, I think . It's hard to say. But, as others have said, it just feels like it's runnning better

My warranty has not expired yet

Depends on your dealer...how tight are you with your service manager, you could call and ask "hypothetically"...

Don't risk it if anything, change out the intake.

It depends... When I took mine to Sesi Motors (in Ypsi), they didn't give me any problems. I believe the service dept. is very good there. They seem to be all about customer service.

....also, when they did my re-flash, they don't even open the hood until the flash is done to stick the Mazda Approved Modification sticker...

Anyone else still getting this? I am sitting at a redlight and the car is smooth with no shuttering at around 1000rpm, then it will all of a sudden dip around 600 to 500rpm while just sitting there with my foot on the brake and then when it dips it shudders rather hard for a second then shoots up to 1000rpm again and stays there for 10 seconds then repeats. Isnt this what it was supposed to fix.

you need to give the ecu time to rebuild its fuel trims... somewhere around 10 drive cycles it seems to finally settle out

That's exactly my experience, although not so much at idle, but when launching the car from rest. This was a noticeable problem for me, and I am glad Mazda fixed it. I noticed the smoothness immediately.

Their ongoing commitment to the car is quite admirable.

CEL was on, so took it in and they performed the decarbon procedure and did the MSP16 and sent me on the way. Later that day CEL was back on so took it in again and ended up getting new Intake Manifold ($2800 total). So far so good.

Oh, car was running fine, except at high RPM the engine would skip sometimes. 04GT, turns 40k in 5 more miles, YIKES!

^Its a 6sp. If I remember correctly, my service guy said the CEL code was something about the shutter valve sticking, most likely do to carbon.

Well guess you got me there... Am a pretty conservative driver, so maybe once a month at best. And also make a lot of short trips. The drive to work is only 6 miles.
