Yeah, the idle feels better. It runs up to redline better.
On the downside, when I picked the car up, the display for the radio and HVAC was totally fried. It periodically Just starts spinning through all of the possible lamps that it has making total gibberish. I had a service guy come out and check it out before I drove off the lot, but I don't think that they are going to take responsibility for this. A - nnoy - ing.
EDIT:
I did a little research, and I have come to the opinion that this was not the dealer's fault. There was a guy who had this problem a couple of years ago, and he said that it happened because of heat. I think what did it was the dealership parking the car in the hot sun all afternoon until I picked the car up. I almost never park in the sun.

I already had my MSP 16 flash done for the rough idle problem. But after about 1 and a half months now it is vibrating and shuttering worse. When stopped it sits at 1krpm and is smooth but then dips down to about 500rpm and shutters then goes back up to 1k. It just keeps repeating the cycle. Should I see if I need the to reflash a second time or is this maybe something else?
Also is there a way of knowing what recalls and MSP's have been done to your car. I want to check because the dealer said they have all been done, but I have a feeling they havent and would like to see what mine is missing.

The dealerships are supposed to put stickers under the hood of the car or in the driver's door frame to tell you what recalls have been done. I have about 1 out of 4 stickers in my car.
You can also try checking the Mazda web-site Owner's section, typing in your VIN and see if any recalls come up for your car. It will list incomplete recalls, but not TSBs.
The best way to know if your recalls have been done is to ask the dealer. They can look it up on their computer, and it is in their interest to do them. They get paid by Mazda if they actually complete them so I don't see any reason why they wouldn't.

Chances are quite good that you are a candidate for a new engine..

As Zoom said above, MSP16 is not a recall. There should be no sticker for it, but I am sure that they did it.
Unfortunately, Canzoomer is absolutely right. You should have the other TSBs for the engine vacuum check and cleaning that were posted at the same time as the MSP16 TSB done. There have been some reports of people getting bad refurbs put in. Take it to the dealer and get it checked before any potential warranty that may still apply has run. Best of luck, and it is possible that it is just a coil or such, but get the dealer to check it sooner than later.

I just got a new engine 4 months ago. So I dont think that is it. Also Haze, on the MSP 16 notes it says they should affix a sticker to the underside of the hood in the documentation so that is why I figured there should be one, but I guess not then.

It includes inspections for coils and the cat as well as a vacuum check of the engine. Give it a read and see if it could apply to you.
I just based that sticker thing on the fact that my dealer didn't put one under my hood. Then they didn't put a sticker for the last campaign either.

Okay, do NOT flame me, because I'm sensitive and moody tonight. Here goes.
I have gotten a zillion 'orange cards' from the dealer I bought my car from and respectfully ignored every last one.
You see, my car runs, and has always run, fine. Perfect, in fact.
I maintain it meticulously, make sure to constantly check all fluid and oil levels, and it runs like new. Not even a squeak or rattle in the interior cabin.
So, you see, the last thing I want to do is take my car TO THE FREAKING DEALER if I can avoid it by any means necessary.
I HATE DEALERSHIPS (no offense, if you work at or own one; it's not personal; well, okay, maybe a little).

By using this designation Mazda is telling the dealers to treat this as if it were a federallu mandated RECALL and perform all of the work listed to any and all vehicles that enter their bays for any work at all. I hate to commit necromancy by reviving dead threads, but this did turn out to be a recall.
Today, I received an unsolicited check for $47.70 in the mail from my dealer with the following note in the comments section "REFUND FOR REPROGRAMMING PCM. COVERED BY MAZDA RECALL".
MSP16 is a Mazda recall program, and it will be covered by Mazda whether or not your car is in or out of warranty.

It's a free service no matter what your mileage is. My car has over 70,000 miles on it, and I got a refund. It is a non-safety recall paid for by Mazda.

I got the new flash today and my idle is definitely smoother. I hope it holds up over time. The main issue for me was in the heat, the shudders and drop in rpms would get worse.
They did the flash for free, but said I would have to pay for a compression test and decarbonization.

Those Canadians who have had the ECU reflash done, do you know what the flash code is in Canada for the latest firmware ?
As per MSP16 a 2005 M/T in the US should be this:
M/T - Calif. N3ZD-18-881H SW-N3ZDEH000
M/T - Fed. N3ZB-18-881H SW-N3ZBEH000
I think I read somewhere on here that the Canadian flash is the same as the FED. above.
Just want confirmation.
Dealer told me I had the latest flash... but it hasnt been flashed since I bought it in January and highly doubt it had been done before that too. And MSP16 came out after January.

Went in for an oil change ($28.88 w/Website coupon) and got the MSP16 flash done. Also had them check a clogged windshield spray nozzle and a buzzing auto day/night rearview mirror.
1. Oil change: completed
2. Rearview mirror: said they found rearview mirror mounting bolt loose so they tightened that. Hopefully it gets rid of the buzz over rough textured pavement.
3. Nozzle: unclogged nozzle
4. MSP16: on my short trip from the dealer, I echo other comments on here. The idle seems to be even smoother on my car, but I didn't have an engine that was particularly rough or prone to lots of RPM dropping. The engine seems more responsive. MPG test will have to wait till I empty a full tank.

I just got my '05 Rx8 Winning Blue Grand Touring Package with 26k on it only (CERTIFIED?!)
Well here is my list to them:
1)Oil change ($28.88 w/Website coupon)
2)MSP16 flash done due to rough idle & dropping below 750rpm..
3)I was also experiencing E-Brake Warning light staying on after it was released & coming on an off while driving with brake pedal shake... (I bet U the Rotors are crystalized or wrapped).
4)Not only that, I was feeling that the front motor mount felt loose.
Veredict:
*Oil Change done - They didn't even do it before they gave me the car .. Dummy me fro trusting a dealership!!!
**MSP16 Done at my request because they had no clue so I printed the paperwork to help them remember
***Rotors & pads were replaced brand new ( I told them I didn't want them to cut anything & I wasn't to pay for it either).
****Finally, Yes the darned Front Motor Mount was Broken, not in stock so they will get it fixed 2morrow once the part arrives.
Now I am stuck with an 08 Mazda 6 Automatic .. this sucks!

I forgot to meantion that when they adjusted the front lip ... they FORGOT to put back the bottom screww on the wheel well therefore they just folded the darn thing on to the lip. (WHAT? R U KIDDING ME) I called them back & I told them to put it back the way it was & to replace my E-brake Boot since it broke at the end & sold me the car like that ...
I told them U get one chance to get it right the 1st or else!
