Well, to start i called the only other dealer within a 1 1/2 hour radius and they also stated that they would not reflash under warranty. I was told by them as well they needed to recreate the problem before flshing the computer.

the good news is that my car was brought to the original dealer for regular service and called me stating they performed the reflash. So i guess i got myself worried for nothing.

So does anyone know what this new flash fixes? Seems like folks are saying the car now pulls better and smoother post flash. Interesting.

Nevermind. Note to self.... read the TSB!

Just got it done and will be picking it up later today, for me they said it would help out with my idle...I would get a rough idle that would come and go and this is to help stop that, so we will see

Got my oil(5w30) and filter changed($24.88) and the MSP-16 PCM Flash. Still runs great as before.

Got it done, and it really helps hold my idle at a steady spot now. Before when fully warmed up it would fluctuate below 1000 (fall and get rough, then jump back up to smooth).

After this my idle is at a steady spot and does not move at all, I suggest anyone with a rough idle get this done.

I didn't get charged and only have the powertrain warranty left.

Ok...so I got the flash this morning from the dealer no charge. Did not do the cleaning procedure but they did the flash.

The idle is obviously better...what I notice more is that acceleration in lower gears at lower speeds is smoother. City driving for example...the hiccups are minimal now.

I have not tested mpg but i will on a trip this weekend.

I got mine done yesterday. Pulls better in mid range and low rpm driving seems smoother. It's too early to tell but my mpg seems slightly better. I did the same driving as I normally do and by a half tank I'm almost always at 140 miles. It looks like I'll be at 150 this time around. I'll need another dozen or two tanks giving me the same result to say if it's really better and not some anomaly.

The reflash is a huge improvement. Just had it done yesterday, almost feels like a different car.

Our 07 w/ 3200 miles feels the same after. Dealer did it no questions asked w/ oil change, and they washed it. Perhaps the decarbon for the older cars is making them run better too, which I did not need.

According to my dealership, not all cars fall into the range to have the decarbon procedure. My car only received the updated flash.

My '05 is running fine, but will get flashed today along with an oil change.

Update: just got the flash and don't really notice any difference, but then as I said, it was already running beautifully, as it always has.

It should be noted the "power increase" felt is just from the fuel trims being reset... not any new tuning from mazda

Anyone know if the flash made any changes with the fuel gauge? I'm not through my first tank yet but I have gone more miles than usual at the half way point.

From what I see ther is 3 Service Bulletin

1. MSP16
2. Engine crank no start
3. Engine lack of power

Are you guys taking all 3 of them or they'll figure that out . I plan on calling them today to schudule an appointment.

Thanks...............

MSP16 is the new flash (primarily add'l rotor oil lubrication), but as cited above if a 'lack of power' problem is identified then they'll move on to the de-carbonizing procedure.

The 'engine crank no start' is a completely different subject, and TSB. It's a combination of new starter, new battery and a richer fuel flash if required.
