Another question:

I was replacing my mounts today and before jacking up my car, I looked at the front and noticed something. The left side of my 8 (if you were looking from behind) is higher than the right side of my 8....

when I jacked up the oil pan from the middle, I also noticed that when it was jacked up at a point high enough to pull the left side mount off, I had to jack it higher to get the right side mount off.

wtf? Problem? Common? Probably suspension? Crossmember? In need of a replacement frame that will cost me thousands?

Could be normal....

could be a spring/strut problem on one side..

First owner? Possibly crashed?

Could be a lot of different things....

Come to think of it, I do hear a lot of noises on the passengers side that sound like springs. I have not replaced the suspension since I purchased it and I dont think it was replaced any time recent. I'll have to ask the mechanic next time I'm there.

As far as accidents go, I hope not. The car fax that I ordered said that the vehicle has not been in any accidents before. However when I first was purchasing the car, there was an airbag light that was on on the dash that the dealership had to replace a wiring system for. Kind of spooky but hopefully they were honest.

Sorry for a lot of questions, but I do appreciate all the assistance. Will 17" x 7.5 50 offset (off Mazda 3) fit on the RX? Have a good deal on rims and snow tires.

Any idea on how to stop this?

Oaky so here we go. Could you please tell me how to remove my links from my rear right hand side? Or give me the link or thread, cuz i cant find it in here.
2 days ago i had an old lady broadside me hard enough to break me rim in half.
TSW rims on shipping to me now, and ALL parts will be here in 2 days for repair.
I'm an owner of 2 RX8's 2004 Nordic Green GT, and 2005 Shinka.
I feel bad now cuz i told the old lady that there should be a driving restriction due to age. I live in Virginia.

Buy a GROM or any other type that lets you put in a aux jack into your stereo and run it straight to your phone. Play pandora on your phone and pick exactly what you want to hear. total cost is about 70 for the grom.
I, too, am dumb and old tech. What is a GROM, and where can I get one, please?
Sounds like exactly what I need. Thanks.

technically its more advanced then what the GROM is, but its just stupid when you have to pay for a subscription when you can use the grom.

the grom is basically an adapter that plugs into the back of the radio and that adapter runs to a box about 3x2x1inch and from that box a audio jack comes out. Think of it as headphones for your cars ears.

Just plug in the jack into your phone(provided you have pandora, or any other internet radio streaming capabilities) and the sound plays through the cars speakers.

It works with all sound obviously, ive even watched videos on netflix from my phone in the car, surround sound is cool.

a few different companies exist, i believe 2 or 3 and theres even a DIY to do it yourself, but for 70 or so bucks i cant complain.

Another member is selling a XCarLink. I have this in my 8 and it has worked great! Allows you to have full function of your ipod/iphone so you can pick your own music or use pandora. It has an AUX port too incase you do not have an ipod or iphone.

Okay so my coolant bottle cracked at the typical spot where the cap is. I don't care if my overflow light is on or off, I check my coolant level regularly while I check my oil. I'm looking to see if I could replace the coolant bottle with a metal (aluminum) one and if so, if I could be pointed in the correct direction. I've already started searching and while I have seen many designs, I would like to be pointed in the right direction by people with more experience than myself. Thanks

Note: I have a AEM intake on the way, and plan to get a midpipe and delete the air injection pump, so slight relocation wont be a big deal. Down the road I will also be getting a smaller battery or relocating it to the trunk, so there will be plenty of space.

I believe mazsport used to make a coolant/washer fluid/catch can combo, they were all silver canisters. If you look through NYCDriftKings photos you might get a peek of them. He has them all located where the washer tank used to be.

put up a WTB, but to be honest...Id be surprised if you got one.

search online for one, the great thing about the mazsport one is that they all looked the same, it will be very difficult to try to match all 3 if you are going that route.

New to Rx's here. Took the RX on a really nice " sports car " winding road. As soon as I started to get aggressive with shifting and powering the corners, I learned that the traction control really sucks. Turned it off and can't say I was overly impressed with the handling with it off either. I drive a supercharged 1967 MGB ( yes, I'm old) in the summer and my MGB can way out corner the RX. While not a professional, I feel comfortable in understanding how to aggressively drive a sports car.

I know some of you race the RX, so what does it need to really improve road course handling, I'm not looking to race it, just want to improve the curvy road handling.

Better tell us about the suspension and the rest. I have driven a few MGB and when stock the RX8 should handle as well. Need to remember the weight and size diff is huge though

So in a continuing saga to find out what exactly is wrong with my car (because now I can rule out motor mounts. performance ones dampened the vibration a lot, but caused other issues. new OEM ones feel smooth until the car is warmed up).

These are the new symptoms I am having (and these are all once the engine is warmed up to operating temperature; half way on the gauge):

- Shifter is vibrating a crap-ton, especially when defroster is on. It didnt vibrate as much with the metal mounts, but it vibrates a lot with OEM ones.

-When rolling up my windows, once it gets to the top, the car basically has a 1-second shake-fest and sounds like its dying down, but then returns to normal. When I am closing my sunroof, right as it finishes closing, everything shakes like a tremor going through the car.

-Once the car is warmed up, if I leave the car in idle, (i dont feel it in the seat as much anymore now that I replaced the motor mounts, but I know it's still there) I can feel kickbacks underneath the car. Feels like it's right underneath the driver's seat.

Anyways, any thoughts on those? I know the shifter vibrating could be a bunch of different things, but I feel like the 2nd one is a larger issue.

Just to clarify. It does this Shake thing when you operate an electrical system such as roll up the window or operating the sunroof? If that is correct, I would look for a wire that may have gotten hooked up incorrectly. May be getting feedback into the computer that is messing with the engine timing. Did you do anything to the car just prior to the shaking starting?

Could be some of it. RX is pretty much stock except for the Tokyo's. RX is longer and a bit. Wider. My B is a 1967 Gt, so it sits lower. It also has a anti sway bar that is stock. Only real difference from stock on the B is I added a bit stiffer bushings in the front suspension.

RX sticks well in the curve, but has a hop in the rear when powering out of a turn

Looking for exact part name

I'm trying to find the exact name of the piece of plastic that goes right under the front bumper and attaches to the radiator guard under the car. I hope I described this pretty clearly
