Extraordinary Engineering
I would expect extra stress resulting from using solid bolts; you may end up with bent flanges, cracks or leaks.

The 8yr 100k warranty on the engine core is CHASSIS mileage, from first purchase. So no, the 8yr 100k warranty would still expire in 5,000 miles.
However, all Mazda dealer work comes with a 1yr 12,000 mile parts and labor warranty, so that would be in effect on the engine replacement. I had pretty much exactly this. Replaced my engine under warranty at 95,935, the factory core warranty expired 4,065 miles later, but I am still under the service warranty until 107,935

I couldn't think of a better place to ask this question....
We all know that RX8s come with a 8yr 100k mile warranty. Is that a 'whatever comes first' kind of thing? IE. A 2004 RX-8 with 90k miles is no longer covered, because it is over the 8yr period? Or will it be covered until it reaches the 100k mark?

Every warranty on every car sold in the US has that time/mileage. It is always a "whichever comes first". So a 2011 RX-8 with 100,001 miles is no longer in warranty. As is a 2004 RX-8 with 12,000 miles.
You have to be within BOTH limits.

thanks i just wanted to know what i have... cause i see 04s come different, this one is
AT
has the bose system single cd
no sunroof
has the fog lights
a rear skirt-wing-and front lip
i guess it has some options others dont, so i didnt really know what it was. my guess would be just a regular rx8 AT that had some options put on at dealer, and the previous owner put a body kit on?

Original Turbo 'd Auto !!
Guessing from the Rims, the bose and the Sunroof, you have a Sport pkg. Do you have a DSC button next to the dash light brightness wheel?
Also you should invest in an undertray. This pic show you do not have one.
It helps with airflow into the Radiator and AC condenser.

P0171
i just got the P0171 code today riwwp, i just bought coils plugs and wires from mazmart and they should be here soon. Im going to clean the maf tomorrow.
question, i bought an aem intake used, and the pipe that connects right before the bend in the front bumper had a pretty decent sized dent in it. It fitted right over the coupler. When i initially installed it it was fine and didnt read any codes.
i took the intake off to take my oem airbox tray out and i decided while it was out to shape the ding out a little. I seem to think i made it alot closer to a circle than it was before.. could this be causing the P0171?? (this ding looks like some dofus used a drill to TIGHTEN instead of loosen the coupler screw, and dented the pipe)
There is also a slight ding also on the piece that connects right before the MAF. (this looks to be a a case of hand turning the screw a little too much)
After i replaced the intake, i went to bed and in the morning i drove it, when it was cold it was fine, but after it got hot the idle got shitty and then would go away for 3-5 seconds and then come back to being a shitty idle. (it would drop to around 500, and then come up and then dip to 650 and then back to normal)
couple of days before during a canyon run, it was hiccuping a little in the 7k rpm which i think was due to the coils/plugs/wires.
now its hiccuping at the 3k range. I havnt brought it past 5k after i saw the CEL.
anyway. what do you think?
None of those methods found mine either, but the log data clearly showed that I had it, and when I pulled data after fixing what I found, the data showed it was gone.
I would be inclined to say that smoking the system may not have found it because under vacuum, it's pulling something flexible into the intake tract, making the leak, where pressurizing the system with smoke is "sealing" it even better.
I would recommend taking an afternoon and pulling off your UIM (accordion, then air box, then disconnect all hoses and wires from the UIM, unbolt 7(?) bolts between UIM and LIM, 2 bolts under the UIM, lift off)
Once off, inspect all gaskets between the UIM and LIM, look for any crimping, pinching, deformation, look for any carbon blowby (should be clean metal outside the gaskets on the face of the surface). It should be fairly easy to pick up on what isn't right. If everything looks normal start next with the hoses and nose nipples, look for cracks.

Coils and plugs wouldn't cause a lean code ... quite the opposite actually. The high RPM hiccups could definitely be caused by poor spark/ignition but are commonly followed by a misfire or rich code. Another source for mid / high RPM sluggishness is a clogged cat (caused by prolonged poor ignition) and a stuck SSV -- although stuck SSV could surface anywhere between 3k and 7k I guess.
