Oh yeah. Totally forgot about the neutral switch. I will check that today. We cleaned the throttle body, MAF and the ESS. The hunting idle got better after all that, but that weird rpm "bump" is still there. Whenever I rev the car in neutral, the rpm goes up 500rpm, drops back to idle, and then revs. It's like I'm blipping the throttle for a split second before reviving.

RotaryWorks kit

Has anyone bought or had any experience with the RotaryWorks 13B REW swap kit? If so, how does it work, what is the quality like, and has anyone had any problems with it?

Only issue I can see is the eBay turbo and BOV and Wastegate. The mount uses the RX7 mounts it looks like...so will be sitting quite high in the car. Only way to tell is to call them and get some installed pics at least

Thanks. I'll probably give them a call then. They have installed pics on their site. I was planning on a different turbo. My issue is that the oil pan sits 3/4 of an inch lower than the lowest point on the rest of the car, which could cause some clearance issues...however a shallow pan could fix that I believe. I was just wondering if anyone has used it because it seems like a complete kit for the most part but I haven't found anyone on here who has used it yet so I was just wondering if anyone had used it and if so, if the quality was good and if it all worked smoothly?

You might want to think about what you are going to use for an ECU...and what motor. ...that will determine how it runs more than anything. Not much sense in cheap knock off components if you want it to work....you will just need to replace them all later.

Help! Transmission!

Can someone please help me. I'm replacing my transmission, I got it back in but I didn't put the torque converter on the transmission first. I haven't started the car yet. Could the be damage?

Yeah I get that and I agree. I just wanted to check and see if the RotaryWorks parts are of good quality and will last. Trying to make sure they won't fall apart and that they will work well before I go and buy them. That way I won't have to replace them all later

HELP...just bought an 09 r3 after owning an 06 for 3 years...
After trying in vein to get it into reverse for 2 hours last night and after a heated phonecall this morning with the garage I bought it from, ive been told reverse is next to 1st and not next to 6th where it was in my 06 and not where it says on the gear ****...
I've looked through the receipts and service history but there is nothing in there about an upgrade/replacement of the gearbox...
Should I be worried,or anyone got any ideas,or should I just shut up and just buy a new gear ****...?

Jameschap, congratulations on the new 8.

RTFM: Take some time, sit down and read the owner's manual. You'll learn many things you didn't know. If you didn't get one with the car they can be downloaded from Mazda.

Guys, if the MAF sensor reading is around 5.5-6 g/s, and the car is stalling at stop lights, can it still be the MAF sensor? It's not a compression issue. We cleaned the MAF. Didn't mess with the neutral switch just yet. Trying to rule out the MAF first.

Removing the air pump harness, since my 8 was bought with it removed...wondering where the hell is the red plug that is referred to in this thread and how to get to it? https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tec...delete-193675/

Check your motor mounts...especially the passenger side one

Which bolts are the ppf bolts ? The passenger side motor mount seems alright. My actual gear shift seems to be sunk down some into the boot and it literally will move up and down when I hit a bump

Power plant frame. Look in the transmission section of the service manual. Google rotaryheads to find it - it's available free.

HELP!
I need some advice. My son's 05 RX8 has low compression. Runs but dies after its warmed up. Took it to the dealer who confirmed it was low compression. About 100K on the motor.
Question: How hard is it to open the motor and replace all the rotor seals?
I'm a retired aircraft mechanic but no experience on rotarys. I know I can get the motor out and apart inspect the internals. I'm worried about trimming/installing the apex and side seals. How hard is it and is it possible for me to get it done? I have all the time in the world and I thought hard about just ordering a rebuilt engine but would rather save the $3K.
What do you think? If this is the wrong thread please point me in the right directions.
Thanks,
Jon
