What was your closing price?

The OTD price...
...adds tax, title and "dealer prep" (where they get to charge you $400 so they can add thier dealership logo sticker to your car).
All told, that added up to just under $2300 in my state. Of course, much of that is deductible. Your numbers will be different depending on your state.

"Today I jut got an e-mail from a Mazda Dealership here in Phoenix, Az, and My Final price on a 06 Light Silver, GT is $24,898. Plus Tax........ etc."
FWIW, dealers in WI are asking $25k for leftover Shinkas if you finance thru Mazda. Chicago are is about the same & I couldn't get much below that. Add tax, title ,etc to that #.....

Final Price:$18,800 ($20,600 OTD)
MSRP: $24,000 on the lot
Model Year:2004
Color: Blue
Model (AT/MT): MT
Options: GT, navigation, spoiler
Date of purchase (month/year): 2/25/07
Location (city/state): Vacaville, CA (Ford dealership)
Financed/Cash purchase: All cash
New/Used: New 26,800 miles
How I found it: Craigslist
How I did it: I have a secret little spreadsheet with all the numbers you guys have posted here (thanks guys! and yes, I'll post it when I get a chance to clean it up). The price I got was more or less rock bottom compared to other prices in this thread. I walked in, quoted them $18.5k, and didn't budge. I made it explicitly clear that I've been looking for the car for 4+ months, had been to a dozen dealerships, and wasn't going to be swayed by the fact that I really liked the car. I only moved up in price once, and the deal was closed immediately after that. Supposedly, they sold it to me at a loss b/c the suggested wholesale price was higher (over 20k).
Comments: Bay Area prices seem to be higher than most other areas in the US. A quick unscientific search of Craigslist postings for different regions shows a lot more RX8's for sale in the Bay Area than pretty much everywhere else, including Los Angeles. I was quoted some nice prices from parties in other states, but didn't go through with them due to the additional risk + extra shipping + hassle of transferring a title to CA.
The deal isn't complete...the car is currently being inspected at a Mazda dealership and all 3 major recalls (including 4206F) are being performed as I type this. If any issues turn up, the Ford dealership I bought the car from will pay for the repairs. But overall I'm very optimistic and happy with the way things have been turning out.

Sounds like you did a good job there kluge. I've noticed that most used (and new) car prices in the bay area are ridiculously optimistic on the seller's part. People here are so money hungry it really gets under my skin.

Hey guys, I looked through this list and notice not too many 07s have been purchased yet. I am interested in buying a base stock 2007 RX-8 MT with the stormy blue mica paint. I know the dealership that i am looking at has about 13-15 2007 and a couple of 2006 still left over. What might i be able to work them down to? The MSRP is $27,070

The dealer I went to had "$1000 Customer Cash plus and additional $1000 MAC Cash*"
The $1000 was a Mazda to Dealer incentive...so theoretically the dealer doesn't have to tell you about it since it's an incentive for them to sell the car. However, the dealer I bought from passed it along to the customers. The incentives were listed on the dealer's homepage.

I did not read all the posts in this thread but if you don't mind buying a leftover, its the way to go. I bought my 05 winning blue in June of 06 for $26,500, the sticker was $32,040. I just drove home my 06 Shinka Copper Red last weekend, sticker was $34,829, I paid $27,800. Concentrate on the bottom line price of the car, then haggle your interest rate and any accessories you can get out of the deal. (I got the WB appearance package for free on the 05, the deal was I had to get it installed on my own - I ended up selling it to someone on here for $300 because I traded the car in)
Good Luck!

I thought someone on the forum had posted a link to a Mazda "code" that would allow invoice pricing plus you keep any rebates on the '07's. Can anyone help me with where to find that?
Thanks.
Thanks.

04 Sport 6MT w/ performance package, 8400 miles:
$14,499
Downsides: car was missing shift **** (stolen) and has a couple little door dings and a scratch or two (compounded out). Going to get the paintless dent removal guy to take care of those (hopefully).
Originally I was going to grab an 05 shinka with only 5k miles on it for 18k, but the insurance check on my old car didn't come through in time and the car was sold one day before I was ready to buy!
My question is this, do they re-sell this poorly (my gain in this case) in the rest of the world/country???

Finally getting around to do this.
06' MT Shinka 260 miles on the lot. Asking price was 26960 after rebates. I started negotiations in January and it lasted for about a month. Closing price 21980 before T&T. Pain in the *** going back and forth!
Edit: 21980 was after 4k in rebates. Invoice was at around 30K. It can be done but it all depends how patient you really are. It took about a month to get them to drop 5k off invoice. Good Luck!
