St Louis area 8 owners
Just kidding ....Hope you get a good drive in this morning and be careful out there. As a past evo owner, I still have a few Evo driving buddies as well. I read your comments about your work schedule for next weekend, so I could also do next Sunday morning as an alternative. Originally when this got batted around, I think you, baseball genius, and maybe one other person was up for this. I check the thread randomly, but the St.Louis thread doesn't move to quickly so I am not sure what the take would be for the drive. I am not a big fan of big planned events, but would definitely be up for the morning drive either on next Saturday morning, or next Sunday morning.

Went for a drive today. Down to Johnson's Shutins and back. As you can see from the sign it was closed. I thought they had it back together but I guess not. The roads were so much fun to drive. This was the first time that I got to open it up on twisties. Its amazing how our cars run threw the turns. Left a little after 2pm and got home about 7pm and was totally worth it.
Hey guys, I'm still here... just been quite pre-occupied as of late between work, school, and stuff (which I think a few of you others are in similar predicaments more or less). STLRX8, try an autocross event already; you'll really get a feel for the car!
Speaking of autocross; today I got first place in B-Stock again! It's legit this time, too; I beat the 350Z that ran B-Stock by ~0.7 seconds. It was a close competition up to my last run of 53.3 to his best 54.0. :D I am waiting on scores to be posted so I can compare my time to the street tire B-Stockers as well.
Sorry I can't really contribute to organizing any sort of get-together event, but my schedule really screws me in a bad way there; school MW 0930-1345, and work Sun-Th 1700-0100., then the frequent bowling Friday nights (which can be worked around sometimes). I am keeping a loose eye on the thread, so if anything surfaces I'll try my best to commit.

STLRX8 It sounds like you had an excellent drive into Southern Missouri last weekend. I lived about 25 miles from the shut-ins as a kid and love to get down there to backpack and camp. Beautiful country and excellent roads. That reservoir break really did a lot of damage down there I understand, and it looks like the park is still closed as the result.
Its a great place to ride as noted. Daylight hours are getting shorter though and with deer moving at dawn and dusk its a spooky time to be out on a bike at the wrong time of day.
Shifting gears congrats to MF on the autocross win. Way to represent the RX8 man....job well done!

Here are some pics of my trip through the Smoky Mountains and drive through Deal's Gap (Tail of the Dragon). If you're not familiar with Deal's Gap, it has over 300 turns in 11 miles.
This is a shot of my nav while on the dragon:

Here's one of me driving on a different road - Every road is paved so perfectly!

Here's another at an overlook, please excuse how dirty she is, it was just starting to rain!

We definitely need to get a good caravan going!

My friend with the evo definitily, maybe my friend with the lightning(way too fast) and I are going on a drive saturday november 8th. Mid morning till...? All in favor of joining us are welcome. If its nice maybe we could stop off and grill. If it not nice maybe plan something else. I went to elephant park last last weekend and it was fun. We could do that again or hit something else. But it is sertain that we are going for a drive on that day.

AMAZING pics. There is another scenic drive - maybe 90% as twisty and lots of great views like that - between Little Rock, AR and Eureka Spings. We did it last summer (in my FX35 - not as road hugging as the RX8)
I don't think I can make it Saturday, but have fun.

This saturday me and my friend with the evo (who just put a 20b on this week) are going for a drive. Either threw wine country or down south around the Johnson shutins area. Depending on what kinda response we got from here was how much planning we were going to do. If its just us two then we don't care to turn off some random road, but if it was 5-6 of us I was going to make a definit route. He and I are the only ones that have commited.
So as of now we are meeting at my place (kingshighway/Lindell across from the chase) or somewhere in the Central West End. 11:am ish. Drive for a while have lunch. Drive some more. Take some pictures of our rides.
If you know of any roads that we can take please shoot me some directions. I am always up for something new. Anything west or in IL?
It looks like it's going to be a nice saturday, maybe one of our last for a while.
I check this site all the time. Shoot me a note if have any questions.

I was planning on a drive...just not with these conditions.
I have am canceling my drive with friends this weekend.
Sorry,
Tim

So... The government emissions and inspections station on kingshighway cant inspect my car because my car has no cylinders. I paid for the tests and they faked the papers saying that it was a 3 cylinder engine and that it passed. Then I was on my way.
?What?
?What?
Philosophically, its the same as a 6 cylinder - because you have three combustion chambers for each rotor. They're just not cylindrical combustion chambers. So I respectfully disagree with three and say its six "triangulars."
Personally I think it is more like a four cylinder in that there are two combustion events per crank revolution.
But I digress - I'm really posting to mention that we have some vacancies for monthly work space rental at the shop - a warm dry place to work on your car with compressed air, heat, power and lots more. See the details in my post under the Tuxedo Park Racing vendor section.

I think the people working that emissions station are *******... I had my emissions tested with no trouble. I think it is usually recorded as a 3 cylinder for government purposes.
i am thinking about either going to stl or kc for a few days on a weekend and was wondering what kind of plans ppl have in the near future. I am from Springfield and was looking to spend a day with fellow 8r's anyone got anything planned let me know and if not and want to plan something let me know also.

Just kidding, though, we're not really that mean here in St. Louis!
